The problem this seat exists to solve

The advisor will help leadership determine how acquired operations should connect to the wider enterprise. The work concerns operating choices: which capabilities should become common, which should remain distinct and what must be protected while leaders learn how the businesses function. Integration recommendations must follow the investment rationale and customer economics rather than a predetermined degree of consolidation.

Decide what should be integrated

Examine dependencies across customer service, finance, technology, people and management information. Identify practices that create differentiation and those reflecting historical habit. Assess whether anticipated synergies require process standardisation, organisational consolidation or better coordination. Make the cost, disruption and reversibility of each route visible.

Test the integration logic

Develop a decision framework for common services, local autonomy and transitional arrangements. Where leaders disagree, use specific operating cases to clarify the trade-off. A consolidation proposal should address service continuity, knowledge retention and the receiving team's capacity. A proposal to preserve autonomy should explain how risk and performance remain visible.

Recommend an integration sequence with readiness criteria and reversible early steps where uncertainty is high. Distinguish actions needed for control from changes that can wait for evidence. Advise on executive ownership, decision escalation and exceptions so that unresolved issues do not silently become permanent arrangements. Consider the commercial consequences of customer-facing changes alongside internal efficiencies.

Independent advice, with implementation left to management

Candidates need post-acquisition operating integration experience and the judgement to challenge indiscriminate standardisation. Their evidence should include both a successful consolidation and a decision to retain a different approach. Strong candidates interpret commercial and financial assumptions while remaining attentive to customer continuity and employee capability.

This appointment provides independent analysis, facilitation and recommendations. It does not carry authority to direct acquired management, negotiate employment changes or amend transaction obligations. The sponsor retains accountability for integration decisions and delivery. Potential conflicts arising from other transaction work must be disclosed.

The final output should enable executives to authorise an implementable plan with explicit dependencies, costs and unresolved questions. Success reduces avoidable disruption and prevents nominal synergies from weakening the capabilities that justified the acquisition.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement

No office of director, and no appointment formalities.

An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Norway. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.

On this brief
Independence
Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
