The problem this seat exists to solve
The appointment will provide independent advice on how transformation investments should be assessed, sequenced and evaluated. It concerns decisions where projected efficiency, service quality and strategic capability are difficult to compare. The advisor must help leaders understand what an initiative can plausibly change, what complementary action is required and when evidence is too weak to support further commitment.
Make the benefits case usable
Examine causality
Review selected investment cases and trace the path from proposed intervention to operational change and measurable benefit. Challenge double counting, savings that cannot be released and assumptions that rely on another unfunded initiative. Distinguish capacity freed for productive use from expenditure that will actually leave the cost base. Identify benefits that matter but should be evaluated through service or risk evidence rather than unreliable financial precision.
Build a decision discipline
Recommend funding stages proportionate to uncertainty. Define what a pilot must establish, which evidence should trigger expansion and when a project should stop. Advise on sequencing where several initiatives depend on the same data, workforce or technology capability. Include the operational capacity required to absorb change, not simply the availability of project funding.
Work with finance and business owners to agree baselines and ownership. Facilitate disagreement about assumptions without replacing management judgement with a scoring mechanism. Reports must separate observed results, forecast outcomes and unresolved uncertainty. Explain how changes in the external environment should affect the original investment thesis and subsequent funding decisions.
Qualified candidates
Applicants need experience evaluating transformation investments and following results into operations. Evidence should include a case where the benefits narrative changed materially after implementation and how accountability was handled. Familiarity with management accounting, operational measurement and investment governance is essential; financial modelling alone is insufficient.
The appointment has a defined advisory boundary.
This role does not approve capital or certify future returns. It produces an evaluation approach, reviewed cases and a practical governance recommendation. Management retains investment authority and responsibility for realising benefits. Leaders should become able to explain both the opportunity cost of delaying a sound initiative and the cost of continuing one whose rationale has weakened.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement
No office of director, and no appointment formalities.
An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Norway. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.
- On this brief
- Independence
- Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.

Advisor on Federated Enterprise Governance
Norway·Business Services & Diversified
Operating model design organisation in Norway
This appointment will advise on the division of responsibility between enterprise leadership and operating units. The advisor must make the resulting trade-offs explicit and operationally credible.
Advisor on Change Capacity and Workforce Adoption
Norway·Business Services & Diversified
