The problem this seat exists to solve
The director will lead redesign and implementation of the interface between commercial teams and delivery operations. The mandate covers how customer needs become proposals, how commitments are priced and approved, and how accepted work enters delivery. The challenge is to protect commercial responsiveness while preventing commitments that the operating model cannot fulfil reliably.
A commitment passes through three decisions
First, examine recent bids, renewals and service exceptions to identify where assumptions about scope, capacity or risk were left implicit. Second, establish which commitments can be made within standard parameters and which need specialist review. Third, improve information transferred at contract acceptance so that delivery teams receive a usable plan rather than a collection of documents.
Implement practical qualification gates, capacity visibility and escalation arrangements. Work with finance to distinguish attractive revenue from work that consumes scarce capacity at an inadequate return. Collaborate with legal and risk owners on non-standard obligations, without substituting operational judgement for specialist advice. Introduce feedback from delivery outcomes into future estimating and sales guidance.
Executive delivery expectations
Lead a joint commercial and operations team, arbitrate approved process changes and maintain momentum through live customer cases. Avoid an approval process so cumbersome that work bypasses it. Where incentives encourage inappropriate commitments, present evidence and implement authorised changes with relevant leaders. Decisions to reject work should be recorded clearly enough to support later review.
Track bid-to-start delays, avoidable scope disputes, margin deterioration attributable to handoff failure and capacity-assumption accuracy. Interpret measures together: fewer exceptions may indicate better qualification or less visible reporting.
Experience that matters
Applicants should have led a business or function where sales commitments materially shaped delivery economics. They must explain a conflict between commercial ambition and operational limits, including the decision and its consequences. Credibility with customer-facing and technical or service teams is essential.
At completion, commercial and delivery leaders should share an understanding of a deliverable commitment. Handover includes ownership of qualification rules, reliable review data and a route for adapting the process as offerings change. This appointment requires implementation authority and measurable operating improvement, not an advisory report alone.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Norway usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in Norway
- A non-resident non-executive director attending board meetings does not require a residence permit. Executive roles for non-EEA nationals do.

Advisor on Federated Enterprise Governance
Norway·Business Services & Diversified
Operating model design organisation in Norway
This appointment will advise on the division of responsibility between enterprise leadership and operating units. The advisor must make the resulting trade-offs explicit and operationally credible.
Advisor on Change Capacity and Workforce Adoption
Norway·Business Services & Diversified
Operating model design organisation in Norway
