Infrastructure Finance Adviser — Logistics Expansion Investment Case

Infrastructure finance organisation in Belgium

The problem this seat exists to solve

An expansion programme should earn the right to consume capital. This advisory mandate requires an independent assessment of whether proposed logistics infrastructure can support its funding needs under realistic utilisation, pricing and operating conditions. The adviser will make uncertainties decision-ready without turning uncertain demand into artificial precision.

The decision and the work product

The final output is an investment assessment, a traceable scenario model and a financing-readiness action list with owners and dependencies. Management owns forecasts and commercial negotiations; directors retain approval responsibility. The adviser must disclose conflicts, explain limitations in available evidence and avoid implying certainty where information remains provisional. The assignment succeeds when decision-makers can choose, defer or reject the investment for explicit reasons.

Demand, delivery and financial alternatives

The assignment begins with the commercial rationale: which customer problems the capacity solves, how demand converts into enforceable revenue and what would cause volumes to arrive later than expected. Follow these questions through construction sequencing, access arrangements, equipment procurement, staffing and working capital. Separate a sound strategic ambition from a financing case that can withstand delay.

Review the model architecture and identify assumptions that drive the outcome disproportionately. Develop scenarios for phased delivery, reduced scope, deferred investment and alternative ownership or funding arrangements. Show the implications for liquidity, debt capacity, operating resilience and future optionality. Analyse whether cash generation is available where debt service is due rather than assuming group cash can move freely.

Bankability requires experienced judgement

Candidates should have evaluated and financed logistics, transport or comparable physical infrastructure, with evidence of connecting commercial contracts to credit assessment. Strong financial modelling skills are necessary but insufficient. The work requires judgement about build-out risk, operating ramp and the consequences of committing capital before demand is secure.

Applicants should describe an investment recommendation that changed after diligence, explaining the evidence and the decision that followed. Clear writing for boards and investment committees is essential.

Advice should address practical financing readiness: required due diligence, information gaps, contractual dependencies, indicative covenant sensitivities and the sequence in which unresolved matters need to be closed. Any market sounding must be explicitly authorised; the adviser cannot represent a financing commitment or act as an unappointed arranger.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement

No office of director, and no appointment formalities.

An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Belgium. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.

On this brief
Independence
Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.

The role carries executive responsibility for the agreed delivery plan and coordination of internal and supplier work. Contract amendments, settlement decisions and material expenditure remain with authorised officers. The engagement should conclude with accepted capability, clear support responsibilities and a documented position on outstanding work or claims. Handover must make any remaining supplier dependence visible. Success is a service the organisation can operate and govern, rather than a collection of completed supplier milestones that leaves the most important integration work unresolved.
