Organisational recovery organisation in Belgium
The problem this seat exists to solve
The director will take executive responsibility for an operating integration requiring renewed direction. The mandate concerns unresolved interfaces, duplicated responsibilities and benefits that have not become normal business performance. It requires reassessing the remaining work and implementing a credible plan rather than simply reviving the original programme schedule.
Distinguish incomplete integration from an unsuitable design
Review the integration rationale and the decisions taken so far. Identify whether difficulties arise from inadequate execution, missing resources or assumptions that no longer fit the combined business. Examine customer commitments, information flows and the allocation of authority across former boundaries.
Listen to local leaders while testing their explanations against operating evidence. Some differences may be worth retaining; others may prevent the enterprise from functioning coherently. The director must make that distinction explicit and obtain the necessary decision where the approved design needs to change.
Integration recovery experience and delegated authority
Candidates should have implemented complex integrations with direct delivery responsibility. They must explain a recovery in which the original integration plan was materially revised and why. The role requires the ability to challenge senior sponsors while maintaining constructive relationships with teams carrying the disruption.
Contractual, employment and reserved structural decisions remain subject to appropriate approval. The director is accountable for preparing those choices and executing authorised action.
Deliver value into permanent operating ownership
Lead the authorised integration team, prioritise work and resolve dependencies within delegation. Establish clear service ownership and management information where temporary arrangements have become ambiguous. Close redundant workstreams and transfer genuine operational responsibilities to permanent managers.
Measure benefits through actual changes in cost, service or commercial capability. Reconcile claims with finance and identify transition costs or adverse effects. The programme should not declare success because systems or reporting lines have changed if the operating outcome remains weak.
Success means the combined business can resolve ordinary issues through its permanent operating model. The handover should identify remaining dependencies, owners and costs, with a realistic completion route. The director must leave a coherent enterprise relationship rather than another temporary layer coordinating around unresolved decisions that management will face again after the appointment ends.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Belgium usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in Belgium
- A non-executive director attending board meetings requires no permit. An executive seat held by a non-EEA national requires a professional card or work permit depending on the structure.

The role carries executive responsibility for the agreed delivery plan and coordination of internal and supplier work. Contract amendments, settlement decisions and material expenditure remain with authorised officers. The engagement should conclude with accepted capability, clear support responsibilities and a documented position on outstanding work or claims. Handover must make any remaining supplier dependence visible. Success is a service the organisation can operate and govern, rather than a collection of completed supplier milestones that leaves the most important integration work unresolved.
