The problem this seat exists to solve

The role carries executive responsibility for the agreed delivery plan and coordination of internal and supplier work. Contract amendments, settlement decisions and material expenditure remain with authorised officers. The engagement should conclude with accepted capability, clear support responsibilities and a documented position on outstanding work or claims. Handover must make any remaining supplier dependence visible. Success is a service the organisation can operate and govern, rather than a collection of completed supplier milestones that leaves the most important integration work unresolved.

Restore accountability across the supplier boundary

The director will lead delivery of a technology programme involving external suppliers and internal engineering teams. The assignment is to ensure that contractual activity translates into usable, accepted capability and that gaps between organisations do not become unowned risks. It requires firm delivery leadership, technical understanding and respect for the authority of commercial and procurement specialists.

Review the statement of work, delivery plan, acceptance criteria and current evidence of progress. Identify dependencies that neither party has fully incorporated and assumptions that differ between supplier and client teams. Establish a common account of what remains to be delivered, tested, documented and supported.

Lead the integrated delivery

Set the programme rhythm, decision timetable and escalation route. Require reporting that distinguishes supplier completion from client acceptance and operational readiness. Resolve technical and process interfaces through named owners, and ensure that changes are assessed for their impact on scope, cost, timing and assurance.

Contract action through authorised channels

Work with commercial colleagues where performance or scope requires contractual action. The director should provide clear evidence and options, not make informal commitments that alter the agreement without authority. Maintain constructive relationships while avoiding a situation in which cooperation becomes a reason to accept incomplete delivery.

Multi-party technology delivery experience

Candidates need substantial technology delivery experience with multi-party programmes in controlled environments. They should understand software and infrastructure dependencies, acceptance evidence and service transition. Strong candidates can demonstrate how they resolved a difficult supplier-client disagreement while maintaining delivery and a reliable decision record.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Belgium usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in Belgium
A non-executive director attending board meetings requires no permit. An executive seat held by a non-EEA national requires a professional card or work permit depending on the structure.
