Retail organisation in Belgium
The problem this seat exists to solve
The advisor will evaluate how an established retail format should evolve to remain commercially relevant. The engagement covers assortment, space allocation, service and operating implications. It must turn customer insight into a proposition that can be tested and delivered, without assuming that visual refurbishment alone will solve a strategic problem.
Diagnose the format's role
Examine who uses the format, which shopping missions it serves and where customers choose alternatives. Review sales and contribution by space, category and time of visit. Assess how access, convenience, service and range interact. Distinguish a location-specific weakness from a format-level issue before recommending broad investment.
Observe store operations to understand replenishment, queuing, storage and employee movement. A proposed customer improvement may create operational cost or complexity that its initial design overlooks. Evaluate the relationship with digital services and other formats so that the recommendation strengthens the overall proposition rather than producing internal competition without added value.
Develop and test options
Present a limited set of format alternatives with customer rationale, operating requirements and indicative economic consequences. Recommend a pilot approach that allows leadership to learn before committing to an extensive rollout. Define measures of repeat use, basket quality, contribution and execution reliability, with enough time to distinguish novelty from sustained preference.
The advisor will support design choices and evaluation. Management retains responsibility for capital approval, property decisions, live trading and employee deployment. Technical, accessibility and other applicable requirements must be reviewed by the relevant specialists before implementation.
**Format-development evidence to bring.**
Candidates should demonstrate retail format or proposition development experience and evidence of converting pilots into sound investment decisions. They must explain a concept that required material revision after operational testing. Strong candidates connect customer understanding with retail economics and practical execution.
The rollout decision
Provide a decision-ready recommendation, pilot specification and criteria for rollout, revision or abandonment. State which elements are essential and which can vary by location. The engagement succeeds when leadership can explain why the renewed format deserves investment and how it will operate consistently, rather than relying on presentation quality or an isolated successful opening.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement
No office of director, and no appointment formalities.
An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Belgium. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.
- On this brief
- Independence
- Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.

All seats in this market →Interim Director of Operating Integration Recovery
Belgium·Business Services & Diversified
Organisational recovery organisation in Belgium
The director will take executive responsibility for an operating integration requiring renewed direction. The mandate concerns unresolved interfaces, duplicated responsibilities and benefits that have not become normal business performance. It requires reassessing the remaining work and implementing a credible plan rather than simply reviving the original programme schedule.
Interim Technology Supplier Delivery Director
Belgium·Technology & Digital Platforms
Secure software delivery organisation in Belgium
The role carries executive responsibility for the agreed delivery plan and coordination of internal and supplier work. Contract amendments, settlement decisions and material expenditure remain with authorised officers. The engagement should conclude with accepted capability, clear support responsibilities and a documented position on outstanding work or claims. Handover must make any remaining supplier dependence visible. Success is a service the organisation can operate and govern, rather than a collection of completed supplier milestones that leaves the most important integration work unresolved.
Interim Technology Modernisation Programme Director
Belgium·Technology & Digital Platforms
Secure software delivery organisation in Belgium
Candidates should have led substantial technology-enabled change in a controlled or public-interest service environment. They need strong programme leadership, technical fluency and evidence of managing stakeholders with different objectives. Seniority should be demonstrated through the complexity of decisions handled and outcomes delivered, not simply through a prior title.
