The problem this seat exists to solve

The executive director will take responsibility for improving a shared-service operation whose performance requires coordinated intervention. The remit includes service reliability, demand management and the working relationship with business users. It requires fixing the operating conditions behind recurring failures while maintaining essential transactions and support.

Establish the service position and the result users need

Review demand, backlogs, errors, repeat contacts and unresolved exceptions. Identify work that has moved back to business teams and is therefore absent from the provider's performance reports. Examine whether service promises, resources and process boundaries are consistent.

Measures should cover correct resolution, elapsed time, repeat demand and user effort. Apparent efficiency must be tested against work transferred elsewhere. The director should ensure that improvements are visible to the business rather than confined to internal production statistics.

At handover, the permanent leader should inherit clear service ownership, usable demand information and a realistic capacity plan. Success means fewer avoidable escalations and a relationship in which problems can be discussed and resolved through ordinary management. The director must leave a way to review changing demand and service commitments so that recovery does not slowly erode as new work is added without corresponding decisions about resources, priorities or operating standards.

Lead the correction through accountable management

Set priorities for immediate service recovery and assign ownership of difficult cases. Clarify entry requirements and the treatment of incomplete or urgent requests. Lead process changes that reduce repeated handling and remove ambiguity between provider and user responsibilities.

Work with functional and business leaders to agree an operating model that can be sustained. Where capacity is inadequate, present choices on service scope, resources or demand rather than relying on prolonged overload. Manage the approved team and budget, with contractual and employment changes subject to the relevant authority.

Service-recovery evidence required

Candidates should have led shared services or a comparable internal service operation with direct accountability for results. They must explain how they recovered trust while changing expectations or responsibilities on both sides of the relationship. Experience distinguishing process defects from isolated performance issues is valuable.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Belgium usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in Belgium
A non-executive director attending board meetings requires no permit. An executive seat held by a non-EEA national requires a professional card or work permit depending on the structure.

Interim Technology Supplier Delivery Director

Belgium·Technology & Digital Platforms

Secure software delivery organisation in Belgium

The role carries executive responsibility for the agreed delivery plan and coordination of internal and supplier work. Contract amendments, settlement decisions and material expenditure remain with authorised officers. The engagement should conclude with accepted capability, clear support responsibilities and a documented position on outstanding work or claims. Handover must make any remaining supplier dependence visible. Success is a service the organisation can operate and govern, rather than a collection of completed supplier milestones that leaves the most important integration work unresolved.
