Retail and franchise networks organisation in Belgium

The problem this seat exists to solve

The interim COO will take executive responsibility for connecting stores, digital orders and fulfilment operations. The mandate addresses the decisions that fall between channels: inventory availability, order allocation, picking, collection, returns and customer support. Performance must be assessed end to end rather than through isolated departmental targets.

One customer promise, several operating teams

Start by mapping the actual customer journey and the flow of stock and information. Identify where an order can be accepted without reliable capacity to fulfil it, where ownership changes ambiguously and where customers must repeat information to resolve a problem.

Resolve the operating conflicts

Set clear rules for stock reservation, order prioritisation and exceptions. Agree how stores balance local customers with fulfilment work and how the associated costs and outcomes are recognised. Coordinate with technology leaders where systems constrain the operating model, while making interim controls explicit.

Lead cross-functional decisions on returns, failed collections and service recovery. Establish measures that reveal fulfilment accuracy, customer effort and cost to serve. Do not improve delivery speed by concealing cancellations or shifting unresolved work to stores.

Executive experience required

Candidates should have senior retail or distribution operations leadership with direct responsibility for integrating channels or fulfilment processes. They need evidence of managing trade-offs between customer service, inventory and capacity. Financial literacy and practical understanding of store operations are essential.

Applicants should describe how they resolved a conflict between channel targets and enterprise performance. The ability to work with technology teams without treating a future system change as the answer to every current problem is important.

What constitutes a durable result

The COO will operate within delegated authority, escalating major investment and structural changes appropriately. Handover must leave clear process owners, workable exception routes and reliable performance information. Success is a customer promise that operations can consistently honour, with understood economics and fewer failures at channel boundaries. The organisation should retain the ability to adjust capacity and priorities after the interim departs, rather than depend on a temporary coordination team to reconcile every order or inventory disagreement manually.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Belgium usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in Belgium
A non-executive director attending board meetings requires no permit. An executive seat held by a non-EEA national requires a professional card or work permit depending on the structure.

Interim Technology Supplier Delivery Director

Belgium·Technology & Digital Platforms

Secure software delivery organisation in Belgium

The role carries executive responsibility for the agreed delivery plan and coordination of internal and supplier work. Contract amendments, settlement decisions and material expenditure remain with authorised officers. The engagement should conclude with accepted capability, clear support responsibilities and a documented position on outstanding work or claims. Handover must make any remaining supplier dependence visible. Success is a service the organisation can operate and govern, rather than a collection of completed supplier milestones that leaves the most important integration work unresolved.
