Public-interest investment organisation in Belgium
The problem this seat exists to solve
The director will join the governing board of an investment-oriented enterprise with a public-interest purpose. The seat requires balancing financial discipline, policy or mission objectives and the obligation to make decisions transparently. It is a director office with collective responsibility, not an external investment-committee advisory appointment.
Judgement the candidate must bring
Applicants should demonstrate substantial investment governance or senior capital-allocation experience in settings where success has more than one dimension. They must explain how they resolved a conflict between a desirable mission outcome and an investment proposal whose risks or execution capacity were inadequate. Financial literacy and independence of judgement are essential.
Make the mandate usable
Challenge whether the enterprise's objectives are sufficiently clear to guide real choices. Review how management translates purpose into eligibility, investment criteria and portfolio limits. Ask what the enterprise will decline and whether exceptions receive the same evidential discipline as ordinary decisions.
Examine the relationship between financial return, additionality and intended outcomes without allowing a single measure to obscure important trade-offs. The board should understand which outcomes can reasonably be attributed to the enterprise and which depend on partners or external conditions.
Oversight after commitment
Review portfolio information, concentration, delivery capacity and the treatment of underperforming commitments. Seek evidence that monitoring changes decisions rather than simply documenting activity. Challenge continued support where the original rationale has weakened, while recognising that public-interest investments may require patient assessment.
The director will contribute to strategy, risk and reserved capital decisions. Management retains origination, analysis and execution responsibilities. Any board committee duties, eligibility or independence conditions must be established for the actual entity, with relevant political, professional and financial interests disclosed.
A defensible record of decisions
The board should be able to explain why an investment fits its mandate, what alternatives were considered and what evidence would prompt reconsideration. Success means coherent capital choices and visible accountability for both financial and mission outcomes. The director's contribution should strengthen the institution's ability to withstand scrutiny without turning decision-making into a procedural exercise that obscures the underlying judgement or prevents worthwhile action.

It requires reassessing the remaining work and implementing a credible plan rather than simply reviving the original programme schedule.
Interim Technology Supplier Delivery Director

The role carries executive responsibility for the agreed delivery plan and coordination of internal and supplier work. Contract amendments, settlement decisions and material expenditure remain with authorised officers. The engagement should conclude with accepted capability, clear support responsibilities and a documented position on outstanding work or claims. Handover must make any remaining supplier dependence visible.
