The problem this seat exists to solve

An infrastructure business faces refinancing pressure and limited confidence in its cash projections. The CFO will establish a reliable financial baseline, align management and lenders around viable options and leave a finance function capable of maintaining disciplined reporting. First month: produce a reconciled liquidity and debt position with immediate reporting controls.

Own the numbers and the financing process

  • Reconstruct entity-level cash flow, debt service and funding obligations using a transparent assumptions register.
  • Lead scenario analysis covering operating performance, capital expenditure and refinancing delays.
  • Coordinate lender materials and negotiations with the CEO, board and specialist advisers.

Leave the finance function stronger

You will improve financial controls, reporting cadence and the accuracy of covenant calculations and forecasts. You will evaluate asset disposals, new equity and expenditure sequencing as part of an integrated financing plan.

What happens after the diagnostic

By day 90: present credible financing options and a board-endorsed negotiation strategy. By month six: deliver the agreed restructuring milestones or a clearly documented alternative, alongside a sustainable finance reporting process.

CFO experience required

The role requires senior finance responsibility with debt restructuring, cash forecasting and infrastructure business modelling; evidence of direct engagement with lenders and boards.

Additional useful experience includes previous interim CFO appointments and experience with multi-entity or project-financed infrastructure groups.

Executive authority and term

The role carries executive delivery responsibility within an agreed budget and delegation. It reports to the CEO, or to the board where the appointment is for CEO. Major decisions follow the organisation’s reserved matters.

An initial six to nine months is envisaged, normally four to five days a week, including diagnosis and an orderly handover. Start date, remuneration, travel and on-site attendance will be agreed for the appointment.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim mandate needs work authorisation. A board seat in the Netherlands usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in the Netherlands
A non-executive or supervisory director attending meetings does not require a residence permit. Executive roles for non-EU nationals require a permit, commonly under the highly skilled migrant scheme.

International candidatures are accepted.
