The problem this seat exists to solve
An airport operator needs to modernise core technology while protecting continuous operations across terminal, airside and commercial services. The CIO will integrate the renewal programme with operational readiness, seasonal demand and the needs of airlines and service partners.
Your first month on site
First month: establish a critical-service map and resolve immediate gaps in incident ownership. You will map critical operational systems and interfaces, identifying failure points affecting passenger flow and airport coordination.
Deliver the renewal
1. Sequence replacements around operational windows, testing readiness and rollback arrangements before cutover.
2. Align IT, airport operations, security and external partners on ownership of shared services and incidents.
3. Reset supplier governance, service levels and investment priorities around airport operating outcomes.
Prepare the permanent organisation
You will build a technology leadership and support model that can sustain the new environment after the interim appointment. By month nine: deliver agreed milestones with documented service acceptance and demonstrate better reliability or recovery performance against baseline.
The roadmap decision
By day 90: approve a prioritised renewal roadmap and realistic operational readiness gates.
Leadership credentials and mandate
The role requires CIO leadership in an airport or similarly continuous-operation infrastructure business; evidence of complex systems integration and executive stakeholder management.
Additional useful experience includes experience with airline interfaces, terminal systems, operational technology and multi-party airport service ecosystems.
The role carries executive delivery responsibility within an agreed budget and delegation. It reports to the CEO, or to the board where the appointment is for CEO. Major decisions follow the organisation’s reserved matters.
An initial six to nine months is envisaged, normally four to five days a week, including diagnosis and an orderly handover. Start date, remuneration, travel and on-site attendance will be agreed for the appointment.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim mandate needs work authorisation. A board seat in the Netherlands usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in the Netherlands
- A non-executive or supervisory director attending meetings does not require a residence permit. Executive roles for non-EU nationals require a permit, commonly under the highly skilled migrant scheme.

- International candidatures are accepted.
