The problem this seat exists to solve
The director will join a board overseeing infrastructure assets or services and contribute judgement on capital allocation, delivery oversight and long-term obligations. The seat requires considering users, financial resilience and asset performance together. It is a director appointment with collective responsibility rather than a project-finance consultancy role.
Start with the decision horizon
Challenge whether proposed investments account for maintenance, renewal, operating capability and future flexibility. Review demand assumptions and the consequences if usage, cost or delivery conditions differ from the forecast. The board should understand the commitments that outlast the initial construction or acquisition phase.
Follow the project through governance
Examine decision gates, delegated authority and reporting of cost, schedule and performance risk. Ask how changes are evaluated and whether escalation occurs before options narrow. Seek evidence that technical, commercial and financial views are reconciled rather than presented as separate assurances.
Where an investment serves a public-interest objective, assess how that purpose is translated into measurable service outcomes and transparent trade-offs. Avoid treating a worthwhile purpose as proof that every design or funding choice is justified. Qualified specialists must address legal, engineering and other technical requirements.
Experience required at the board table
Candidates should demonstrate senior infrastructure, investment or governance experience with meaningful capital responsibility. They must explain a project decision in which long-term operating consequences changed the preferred option. Financial literacy and the ability to work constructively with technical experts are essential.
Oversight rather than project management
The director will contribute to strategy, risk appetite and reserved capital decisions. They will not direct contractors or become the project sponsor outside a formally agreed executive arrangement. Board eligibility and committee responsibilities must be confirmed for the actual entity, with relevant commercial interests disclosed.
A stronger investment record
Success means the board can explain the service and financial rationale for commitments, the evidence supporting progress and the actions available when performance deteriorates. The director should help prevent the approval of an attractive initial case from becoming unquestioning support for every subsequent change, while enabling timely decisions that preserve long-term value when circumstances genuinely require adaptation.

Independent Bank Director — Growth, Governance and Executive Challenge
Greece·Banking & Financial Services

Nonexecutive Director for Utility Capital Investment Oversight
Greece·Energy & Utilities
Municipal and regional infrastructure
A utility is accelerating network and treatment infrastructure spending after years of deferred renewal. The director will help the board assess project prioritisation, procurement discipline and delivery readiness so scarce capital addresses the most material service and asset risks. You will challenge the evidence used to prioritise renewal projects, including asset condition, service impact and affordability.
