Aircraft-Cabin Retrofit Material Recovery Leader
Urgent / Unplanned
Aircraft-Cabin Retrofit Material Recovery Leader mandate in Dubai, United Arab Emirates · Aircraft Cabin Retrofit Logistics
An international airline needs executive recovery after tail-specific retrofit kits arrived incomplete and removed cabin interiors overwhelmed hangar stores, delaying aircraft return and component disposition.
The mandate
Three wide-body aircraft have exceeded planned ground time because seat monuments, dress covers, in-flight-entertainment harnesses, placards and galley components reached the hangar as nominally complete kits but did not match tail configuration or approved modification status. Removed interiors occupy bonded and production areas without clear owner, condition or onward route; some lessor property is mixed with airline material. The retrofit materials director was replaced after an aircraft lost its return-to-service slot. The interim takes control of planning, kitting and removed-material logistics while engineering and maintenance organisations retain airworthiness authority.
The nine-month term starts within eight days and is built around the remaining fleet input sequence. For the first two aircraft, the leader runs daily configuration-to-kit checks before material crosses the hangar boundary. Within twenty-one days, shortages, substitutes, repair candidates, customer-supplied items and removed-part routes are visible by tail and work package. The next four months stabilise supplier cut-offs, bonded flows and disposition capacity. The final phase challenges the recovered model with a late configuration change, aircraft swap and supplier escape, placing the successor in control for the last two inductions.
Successful handover requires a permanent leader to chair ten tail-readiness reviews, five consecutive aircraft to enter with 98% of planned installation material ready or under approved exception, and removed components from each tail to reconcile ownership, technical status, physical location and accepted destination. Transfer material includes configuration risks, long-lead shortages, open concessions, lessor property, bonded discrepancies, repair queues, reusable cabin components, textiles and composite routes, supplier claims and a six-month induction calendar. Appointment and regulated access for the successor begin in month two.
The interim can freeze an incomplete kit, resequence non-critical work within the approved input plan, prioritise bonded receipt and inspection, allocate approved tail-specific stock, expedite suppliers, reserve repair and secure-storage capacity, quarantine unidentified removals, suspend a logistics contractor and approve emergency transport within an AED280 million envelope. Engineering change, part substitution, installation release, return to service, airworthiness record, lessor consent, customs disposition, supplier termination, permanent hiring and spend beyond authority remain with accountable technical, legal, commercial or committee leaders.
This remit excludes cabin design, certification, maintenance execution, technical disposition and flight operations. The interim cannot move a part from one tail by altering its configuration record, describe material at the airport as hangar-ready, strip removed assemblies without approved instruction, dispose of lessor property or count a work package complete before maintenance accepts installation and closure. Recovery must serve aircraft return while making removed-item reuse, repair, harvesting, recycling and residue explicit, then pass those disciplines to durable programme ownership.
Why this seat is open
The missed slot proved that purchase-order delivery and a kit label did not represent aircraft-specific installation readiness. Simultaneously, removed material became a space and custody problem that the programme treated as downstream waste. The airline needs immediate executive integration of incoming and outgoing cabin flows without placing supply leadership over engineering or airworthiness decisions.
What you will own
- Join approved tail configuration, work package, bill, supplier commitment, bonded receipt, inspection state, kit position, installation need and aircraft input date.
- Run tail-readiness gates that expose missing hardware, mismatched effectivity, open concession, damaged finish, repair dependency, tooling interface and approved substitute.
- Control hangar delivery and point-of-use issue so kits remain sequenced, protected and attributable through installation and unused return.
- Establish secure removal states for airline, customer and lessor property across identification, technical hold, repair, reuse, parts harvesting, resale, recycling and residue.
- Reset supplier, freight, bonded-store, production and repair interfaces around cut-offs, evidence, shortages, damage, customs state, claims and recovery timing.
- Exercise aircraft swap, configuration change and late supplier escape while retaining every deferred task, borrowed component and removed-item discrepancy.
- Recruit and prepare the successor, transferring tail risks, vendor recovery plans, bonded controls, open claims, disposition capacity and future input decisions.
Candidate qualifications
- Has held executive aircraft MRO material, cabin retrofit or modification-programme supply authority across multiple tails and suppliers.
- Can evidence recovery where apparently complete kits failed aircraft-specific effectivity or approved installation readiness.
- Understands cabin components, configuration and effectivity, maintenance inputs, bonded stores, point-of-use kitting, repair loops, lessor property and disposition.
- Has protected aircraft schedules while preserving engineering, maintenance, airworthiness, customs and lessor decision rights.
- Can distinguish delivered item, inspected stock, tail-compatible kit, accepted installation, identified removal and authorised downstream route.
- Has transferred a recovered retrofit-material function after aircraft-swap, configuration-change and supplier-failure tests.
Non-negotiables
- Can start onsite in Dubai within eight days and work daily aircraft-input reviews plus supplier rotations.
- Will not approve design, substitute parts, release maintenance, sign airworthiness records, dispose of lessor property or alter effectivity evidence.
- Brings direct aircraft retrofit or heavy-maintenance materials command; passenger-product or airline procurement experience alone is insufficient.
- Will retain shortages, concessions, borrowed parts, unused kit, unidentified removals, repair queues and residue in each tail review.
- 49 words maximum. Which aircraft-specific evidence most often exposed a supposedly complete cabin retrofit kit?
- 49 words maximum. How did you protect a maintenance input while preserving engineering control of substitutions?
- 49 words maximum. Confirm your Dubai start date and largest multi-tail retrofit materials programme.
