Chief Operating Officer — Interim, Data Centre Infrastructure

The mandate

A protection-coordination error tripped both utility and generator paths during commissioning, interrupting a customer's live expansion. The COO was removed when test deviations and temporary settings were found outside formal change control.

The interim must join within ten days for eighteen months through forensic correction, delayed capacity commissioning and two monsoon cycles. Permanent search starts after the first clean integrated systems test, with two months for handover.

Handover requires twelve months without a critical-facility-caused outage, 48 MW of delayed capacity accepted, all temporary settings removed or governed, recovery objectives proven, and the successor commanding two integrated failure exercises.

The COO may stop energisation, reject commissioning and approve emergency correction below ₹1 crore. Customer settlements, capacity capital above ₹10 crore and material design changes require committee approval; electrical safety authorities and independent commissioning agents retain formal sign-off.

Cloud services, customer software and new-market land acquisition are excluded. The mandate stabilises and commissions the existing critical-facility portfolio.

Why this seat is open

The trip exposed configuration and governance failures beneath a nominally complete commissioning process. Customer confidence requires independent temporary leadership, not a quick internal promotion. The board will select a permanent operator once resilience is demonstrated across live capacity and seasonal stress.

What you will own

• Reconstruct protection, control, switching, test and temporary-setting history behind the dual-path trip.
• Decide corrective design and retest sequence with independent commissioning and electrical-safety review.
• Establish immutable configuration and change control across utility, generator, UPS, switchgear and controls.
• Gate 48 MW acceptance through levelled integrated systems tests and documented defect closure.
• Run live-site resilience exercises for utility loss, generator failure, cooling interruption and control failover.
• Certify capacity, redundancy, maintenance and customer-risk status monthly to the committee.
• Transfer configuration baselines and incident command after two successor-led integrated exercises.

Candidate qualifications

• More than twenty-two years in data centres, critical facilities or high-availability infrastructure operations.
• Led recovery after a power-chain, cooling or control event affecting live customer load.
• Deep knowledge of electrical protection, generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling, BMS and commissioning practice.
• Experience rejecting integrated systems tests whose temporary settings or deviations obscured true resilience.
• Demonstrated delivery of new capacity without exposing operating halls to uncontrolled commissioning risk.
• Customer and board credibility during material availability failure and corrective assurance.

Non-negotiables

• Available onsite in Hyderabad within ten days and for critical-facility incident command.
• No relationship with design, commissioning or equipment vendors implicated in the trip.
• Will not energise or accept capacity without complete configuration and test evidence.
• Can commit for eighteen months through two monsoon cycles and successor transition.
