A clean-heat provider needs an operating architecture that converts industrial prospects into operable electric-heat services across process constraints, grid capacity, outages, performance and commercial acceptance.

The mandate

The provider has a strong prospect pipeline, yet proposals advance before process-temperature profile, grid access, outage windows, backup philosophy and operator capability are reconciled. Commercial teams price nominal heat, projects assume site readiness and customers expect savings without defining production-risk boundaries. The defined problem is to create one conversion operating model that turns interest into an accepted heat service while preserving customer process and technical authorities.

The named deliverable is an Industrial-Heat Customer-Conversion Architecture covering qualification, process evidence, load profile, grid and energy, technology option, site interfaces, investment case, contract inputs, outage planning, installation, commissioning, operator training, performance acceptance, service, fallback and continuous measurement. It will include customer archetypes, decision rights, evidence gates, capacity rules, responsibility matrices, economics and a staged portfolio plan for six sites.

Four milestones govern six months. By week five, milestone one reconstructs six prospect-to-operation journeys. Week eleven delivers customer archetypes, failure modes and three conversion models. Week eighteen completes simulations for grid delay, outage compression, underperformance, backup use and product-quality concern. At week twenty-four, the final milestone provides the accepted architecture, six site dispositions, commercial schedule requirements, capability plan and implementation backlog.

Acceptance rests jointly with the chief commercial and operating officers, with customer process owners and engineers retaining technical judgments. Work is accepted only when two account teams can move unseen cases through each gate, operations can identify service and fallback consequence, finance reconciles economics, and all six sites have explicit proceed, condition, pilot or stop positions. Claimed emissions and savings remain bounded by approved measurement and customer evidence.

The client provides site studies, energy use, process profiles, grid correspondence, equipment concepts, contract drafts, outage plans, operating records, cost and customer access. Consultants will not design equipment, approve process changes, negotiate contracts, commission assets, certify performance or validate environmental claims. Detailed engineering, permitting, procurement and live construction are excluded; specialist conclusions remain attributable dependencies.

What you will own

  • Reconstruct six customer journeys from prospect qualification through technical evidence, outage, commissioning and live service, including conditioned approvals and abandoned conversion cases.
  • Segment customers by heat profile, process criticality, grid status, fallback, outage flexibility and operating capability.
  • Define decision rights among customer process owners, provider commercial, engineering, projects, operations and finance.
  • Build gates for feasibility, offer, contract, site release, commissioning, performance and service acceptance.
  • Exercise grid delay, compressed outage, underperformance, backup and product-quality concern scenarios.
  • Reconcile project, service and customer economics without assuming savings or environmental treatment.
  • Deliver the accepted architecture, six site decisions, contract inputs and sequenced mobilisation backlog.

Candidate qualifications

  • Has designed industrial electrification, energy-as-a-service or comparable customer conversion operating models spanning plant constraints, outage windows, tariffs and contracted performance.
  • Can evidence a sale stopped or restructured because process and operating acceptance were incomplete.
  • Understands industrial heat profiles, grid constraints, equipment interfaces, outages, commissioning and service guarantees.
  • Has aligned commercial and technical teams while preserving customer process authority.
  • Can distinguish installed capacity, available heat, accepted performance and dependable production service.
  • Has run customer-site scenarios that exposed lifecycle obligations before contract commitment.

Non-negotiables

  • Can complete six Nordic and European customer laboratories and three simulations within six months.
  • Will not approve process designs, commission equipment, negotiate contracts or certify emissions and savings.
