Rolling Forecast Design and Adoption Senior Director mandate in Brussels, Belgium
Confidential Rolling Forecast Design and Adoption Senior Director in Brussels, Belgium, reporting to the Planning Transformation Sponsor. Consulting FP&A appointment at Senior Director level, a 9-month mandate horizon; three days a week.
The mandate
The project will design and embed a rolling forecast that updates decisions when evidence changes, rather than reproducing the annual budget more frequently. It is a bounded operating-model commission covering purpose, horizon, drivers, cadence, governance, pilot and transfer. Production-system build and full data remediation are excluded.
Six artifacts are required: forecast-purpose charter, horizon-and-granularity policy, driver and assumption design, governance calendar, pilot and parallel-cycle report, and adoption handbook. The consultant must explicitly retire redundant forecast activity; adding a new cycle without removing old demands will not be accepted.
Milestones occur at months one, two, four, six, eight and nine. The Sponsor accepts purpose and policy; designated finance and operating owners accept driver design and pilot; the CFO delegate accepts parallel cycle and transfer. Acceptance relies on reconciliation, decision use, effort evidence and owner capability.
The organisation will provide controlled actuals and plan views, current calendar, named assumption owners, agreed pilot teams and executive access for decision mapping. If source limitations affect design, they must be quantified and placed in the adoption path. The consultant may not expand the assignment into implementation merely because a preferred design exceeds present capability.
What you will own
- Define the decisions the rolling forecast will serve, their lead times and the information that becomes obsolete between cycles.
- Set a constant horizon and tiered granularity that preserves visibility without demanding false detail in distant periods.
- Design driver and assumption ownership, including refresh triggers that allow material changes between scheduled cycles.
- Remove duplicated budget, forecast and reporting tasks, documenting net effort and control consequences.
- Pilot the method with agreed areas and measure reconciliation, forecast range, cycle time, owner participation and decision action.
- Run one parallel enterprise cycle, record defects and prove that executive choices use updated evidence rather than target restatement.
- Establish governance for baseline, version, change, override, risk and opportunity, scenario and forecast release.
- Transfer cycle leadership through an internal dry run and an adopted ninety-day improvement backlog.
Candidate qualifications
- At least 15 years in FP&A operating models and forecast transformation, with three rolling-forecast designs taken through live adoption.
- Evidence that a rolling forecast removed redundant work and changed decision timing, not simply increased forecast frequency.
- Technical strength in horizon design, driver granularity, range forecasting, change triggers, reconciliation and assumption governance.
- A case where you resisted detailed distant-period forecasting because precision exceeded available evidence.
- Experience measuring user effort, decision use and control quality alongside numerical forecast outcomes.
- Ability to separate method design from tool implementation and leave a realistic capability-led adoption sequence.
- Demonstrated transfer through internal facilitation of a full cycle without consultant correction.
Working terms and boundaries
- The commission lasts nine months at three days a week and includes six formal milestones with separate acceptors.
- Scope covers design, pilot, parallel cycle and adoption handbook; production build, source remediation and permanent cycle operation are excluded.
- The consultant may set project design recommendations but cannot approve targets, forecasts or operating decisions.
- Controlled financial views, calendar details, named owners, pilot participation and executive access are mandatory client dependencies.
- Final acceptance requires an accurately reconciled parallel cycle, evidenced task removal and independent internal operation of the new cadence.
