Interim Chief Risk Officer

Ireland·Insurance & Reinsurance··Posted 17 July 2026

Irish-authorised insurance undertaking within an international group

The problem this seat exists to solve

The pre-approval controlled function holder has resigned. The firm needs an interim in the seat while a permanent appointment goes through Central Bank pre-approval, which takes months.

The remit

  • Hold the risk function and the own-risk-and-solvency-assessment cycle
  • Maintain the firm's regulatory relationship through the transition
  • Own the risk elements of the responsibilities map under the accountability framework
  • Support the permanent candidate through the pre-approval process

What the sponsor will not compromise on

  • Existing or prior pre-approval controlled function holder with the Central Bank of Ireland
  • Solvency II and ORSA experience in a non-life or life undertaking
  • Availability to be in Dublin regularly
  • Capacity within the Central Bank's time-commitment expectations

Terms

Engagement
Six to nine months, three to four days a week.
Compensation
EUR 1,300 – 1,700 a day.
Cross-border
Central Bank pre-approval is required for the controlled function. Prior PCF status materially shortens the timetable.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Ireland usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in Ireland
A non-executive director attending board meetings does not require an employment permit. Executive roles for non-EEA nationals require one.
On this brief
Central Bank pre-approval is required for the controlled function. Prior PCF status materially shortens the timetable.
