Retail and franchise networks organisation in Spain

The problem this seat exists to solve

The adviser will assess how a retail network deploys labour across locations and trading periods. The objective is a practical recommendation that improves service and productivity together, recognising differences in customer demand, store format and task requirements. The assignment does not authorise employment decisions or implementation of staffing changes.

Match available people to the work customers create

Review demand patterns, opening hours, service queues, replenishment work and administrative tasks. Test whether existing measures capture work accurately or reward sites for transferring unfinished tasks to another shift. Examine the reliability of forecasting and the discretion available to managers when actual demand differs from plan.

Diagnose before recommending a ratio

Identify where scheduling, process design, training or systems create avoidable workload. Distinguish a true staffing gap from work that should be simplified or moved. Consider how changes affect customer support, stock availability and the resilience needed for absence or unexpected demand.

Develop options for deployment rules, manager guidance and exception handling. Recommendations should state the assumptions, likely benefits and service risks. Any employment-law or contractual implications require review by the appropriate specialists before management implements changes.

Relevant qualifications

Applicants should have substantial multi-site retail operations experience, including responsibility for labour planning and customer service. They need strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret site conditions rather than rely on aggregate productivity measures. Experience testing a scheduling change in practice is particularly relevant.

Candidates should explain how they evaluated whether apparent savings created hidden costs through poor service, overtime or unfinished work. Clear communication with operational leaders and sensitivity to employee realities are essential.

Make the recommendation testable

Deliver a demand-and-workload assessment, proposed deployment principles and a proportionate pilot plan. Define how management should compare outcomes and identify unintended consequences before wider adoption. The adviser will not promise savings unsupported by the evidence. Success is an operating approach that managers can use, with explicit service protections and a credible way to judge whether improved productivity reflects better work design rather than simply asking fewer people to absorb the same workload.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement

No office of director, and no appointment formalities.

An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Spain. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.

On this brief
Independence
Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
