The problem this seat exists to solve
This interim executive will take responsibility for a transformation portfolio that needs clearer priorities, ownership and delivery control. The mandate is to make change executable within the business's actual capacity. It does not assume that more reporting, additional workstreams or a new methodology will solve the problem.
Recover the programme by recovering the decisions
The leader will work with the chief executive and accountable functional heads, with authority defined at appointment. They will own the integrated transformation plan and the escalation of unresolved choices, while line leaders remain responsible for the operating outcomes assigned to them.
What to examine first
- Which initiatives address a material business need, and which continue because they have already started?
- Where do several programmes depend on the same people, systems or decisions?
- Which benefits have a credible owner and a measurable route into operating performance?
- What work should stop or be deferred so that essential change can succeed?
The answers should lead to a revised sequence, not merely a risk register. Confirm the baseline, expose inconsistent assumptions and identify commitments that require a fresh approval.
Delivery authority in practice
Run decision forums that resolve priorities and resource conflicts. Maintain a clear record of approved changes and their consequences. Escalate promptly where a sponsor will not make a necessary choice or where an intended benefit has become unrealistic. Protect business continuity during change and ensure adoption is treated as an operating responsibility.
Who can take this mandate
Candidates should have led enterprise transformation with measurable delivery accountability, ideally including recovery of a programme that had lost direction. Experience must show the ability to stop work, renegotiate scope and secure executive decisions. General-management judgement and financial literacy are required alongside programme discipline.
Applicants should be able to describe how they distinguished a delivery problem from an unrealistic strategic assumption. They must work credibly with senior leaders without becoming dependent on personal persuasion alone.
The assignment ends with an owned portfolio, a viable delivery cadence and evidence that benefits are entering business performance. The permanent organisation must understand what remains to be done and have the authority to do it. Success is a manageable change agenda with honest commitments, rather than a fully green dashboard whose underlying choices remain unresolved.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Denmark usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in Denmark
- A non-executive director attending board meetings requires no permit. Executive roles for non-EU/EEA nationals require a residence and work permit.
