The problem this seat exists to solve
Candidates should have delivered digital service transformation with direct operational responsibility. Experience in public services, utilities or other consequential customer environments is relevant. They must demonstrate how they balanced accessibility, efficiency and administrative integrity, and how they changed a design after evidence from difficult cases contradicted the original plan.
One service across several channels
The interim leader will improve a public-interest service in which online transactions, telephone support and in-person assistance must operate coherently. The objective is to reduce avoidable effort and unresolved cases while preserving meaningful access for users who need help.
Lead the transition between service channels
Establish which journeys generate repeated contact, incomplete submissions or inconsistent advice. Follow actual cases from first request to resolution and identify the organisational handoffs behind the failure. Prioritise changes to information, process and decision authority before assuming another interface will solve the problem.
The CDO will lead multidisciplinary teams and agree a practical improvement sequence with operational managers. Each release must include staff preparation, exception handling and the ability to observe whether the complete service improves. Supplier work should be tied to that sequence rather than delivered as a separate technical schedule.
Define how a user moves from an online process to assisted support without repeating the same information. Clarify which team owns an unresolved case and how the user receives an accurate next step. Where identity, evidence or authorisation is incomplete, establish a controlled route for resolution with the appropriate specialists.
Measures that reveal the outcome
Track completed journeys, repeat contact, avoidable handoffs and time to resolution. Assess results across different user needs rather than relying on an overall digital-adoption figure. Establish baselines before setting targets and investigate whether improvement in one channel creates additional work in another.
The handover should leave a service owner with the authority, resources and information to continue improvement. Success means that the service works more reliably across channels, not that a greater proportion of users are directed toward an online form.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Denmark usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in Denmark
- A non-executive director attending board meetings requires no permit. Executive roles for non-EU/EEA nationals require a residence and work permit.
