Restructuring and turnaround organisation in Denmark

The problem this seat exists to solve

The interim director will lead an industrial turnaround centred on capacity, throughput and the economics of the production configuration. The assignment requires practical operating authority and disciplined coordination with finance, commercial teams and workforce specialists.

Diagnose the production change and its receiving capacity

Establish the causes of poor performance across utilisation, changeovers, scrap, maintenance and scheduling. Distinguish a demand problem from a capability problem. Examine whether local targets encourage excess work-in-progress or production that does not convert into profitable sales.

Set readiness criteria for quality, output, staffing and customer acceptance. Track delivered cost after transition, including expediting and temporary inefficiency. Do not count a local cost reduction as an enterprise benefit if it creates greater expense elsewhere.

Execute the transfer and leave a viable operation

Develop and lead a sequenced operating plan. Compare improvements within the existing configuration with transfers, consolidation or other changes, including qualification, tooling, inventory buffers and service disruption. Secure the approvals needed for workforce and contractual consequences through the appropriate processes.

The handover should include a workable production configuration, clear operating responsibilities and measures that connect throughput to cash contribution and customer performance. Benefits must distinguish recurring improvement from temporary inventory movements or deferred maintenance.

Candidates should explain an intervention they changed because the receiving site or customer was not ready. The director must be prepared to revise the sequence when evidence changes rather than protecting an announced timetable. Sustainable recovery requires local managers to understand and own the new operating logic after the interim leader departs.

Qualified candidates

Candidates should have led manufacturing transformation or operational restructuring with responsibility for implementation. They need to work credibly with site managers and translate detailed operating evidence into executive decisions. Experience of a difficult transfer, restart or footprint change is essential to the proposed remit.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in Denmark usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in Denmark
A non-executive director attending board meetings requires no permit. Executive roles for non-EU/EEA nationals require a residence and work permit.
