Keep the scope of the operating assurance open to challenge

An operating statement becomes useful to a board when its scope is clear enough to challenge. A capacity figure, dispatch count or continuity claim can be accurate within one definition and still inadequate for the decision directors are being asked to make. I would contribute by examining that connection while learning the receiving enterprise's wider responsibilities. My experience is in manufacturing operations, not every technical or financial question a board faces. The purpose of an operating perspective is to improve collective judgement, with complementary expertise and a clear boundary between oversight and execution.

The 2017 dispatch case begins with an assumption I approved. A group of 32 rolls included eight whose joins prevented them from meeting the customer's agreed continuous-length requirement. Rework cost ₹41 lakh. The roll count and total length did not establish usability for the intended operation. I would use that experience to ask whether management's completion measure preserves the promise it is being used to assess. The board should understand the missed condition and its consequence without selecting the technical rework method or becoming an alternative quality-release authority.

The capacity case asks a different question about units. At an assumed 600 kilograms per hour, 400- and 800-gram-per-square-metre products imply gross area rates of 1,500 and 750 square metres per hour. Those are planning calculations before trim, downtime and acceptance, not demonstrated equipment outputs. We deferred an ₹11.4 crore line proposal and funded a ₹92 lakh operating trial and planning programme. Directors should be able to see how the customer-demand unit connects to the operating-resource unit, which product assumptions matter and what evidence remains necessary before the investment is justified.

A resource programme also needs an honest account of its boundaries. Of sixty tonnes of recovered edge trim reviewed in 2022, 42 tonnes were compatible with the recipes considered and eighteen remained segregated. A ₹76 lakh separation programme supported the operating response. The reviewed share of that group did not establish a finished-product recycled-content percentage or a measured environmental benefit. I would ask whether reporting follows the material through its actual state and destination, and whether the portion still outside the proposed use remains visible to management rather than disappearing from a positive headline.

Continuity proposals deserve the same scrutiny. A pooled spare-motor arrangement supported four machines in a six-machine group, with two requiring different interfaces. We approved a ₹1.2 crore specific-spares programme while retaining specialist responsibility for selection, installation and safe return to service. The board can examine the actual coverage and remaining limitations without deciding the engineering solution itself. Additional stock is a resource, not proof that every interruption will be resolved immediately. A useful mitigation account identifies the equipment, conditions and capabilities on which the proposed support depends.

I have presented operating and investment matters through the CEO but have not served as a director. My fictional preparation remains before IICA databank registration, with no proficiency-assessment pass or exemption claimed. A prospective appointment needs qualified review of the applicable role, independence and committee or directorship requirements. I would not infer chair readiness from being a COO or use my executive title to imply technical authority I do not possess. The first outside contribution should leave room to learn the enterprise's customers, economics and responsibilities beyond the operating patterns I recognise.

The practical commitment would also need an honest account. Twenty-three provisional days must include induction, preparation, travel and unusual demands, not only scheduled meetings. Employment consent and review of relationships with Vazqeshi's owners, investor, customers, suppliers and industrial partners would precede acceptance. Confidential methods and customer requirements would remain protected. If conflicts or executive workload prevented a useful contribution across the board's work, I would reconsider the opportunity. The standard I would apply to my own proposed role is the one I apply to an operating promise: state the conditions clearly enough that the institution can judge what it can actually rely on.

On governance

The roll is not the end of the operating story. A customer may need an uninterrupted length, a particular winding arrangement or a material recipe that cannot accept every returned fibre. I once counted a complete dispatch group without asking whether its joins allowed the next operation to run as agreed. Since then I have wanted the factory account to follow the material beyond the quantity we can conveniently report, including the limits of a capacity estimate and the equipment a spare can really support.

I would explore a first outside contribution where practical manufacturing judgement could complement a board's existing strengths. I have neither an outside appointment nor a personal holding in Vazqeshi. My fictional preparation has not yet reached IICA databank registration, and no assessment pass or exemption is claimed. An initial estimate of 23 days would need to be reconciled with executive duties, consent and the actual role before any appointment discussion progressed.
