A Gothenburg battery manufacturer needs a ten-month recovery leader after equipment acceptance outpaced operator qualification, material control and repeatable stable-rate evidence before a committed customer launch.

The mandate

Installation and individual equipment acceptance have progressed, yet integrated material flow, recipe governance, contamination response and operator intervention remain unproven at customer rate. Launch dashboards count closed punch-list items without showing cross-area dependencies or repeatability. The readiness vice president was dismissed after a scheduled customer run consumed three weeks of buffer material and still failed yield, traceability and recovery criteria.

The interim takes the launch seat within eight days for ten months, covering operating-baseline reset, two integrated build phases, five rate trials, customer qualification support and appointment of a permanent plant leader. A recipe change, supplier lot, utility instability, equipment modification, contamination event or staffing constraint becomes a controlled readiness decision. Six final weeks are reserved for handover and surprise-rate testing.

Exit demands area ownership, integrated control plans, qualified shift coverage, material and recipe traceability, maintenance response, hold-and-release routes, constrained-rate rules, escalation timing and three consecutive production runs within approved yield and safety tolerances. The successor must command a blinded utility dip and suspect-material event during the fifth trial without leaning on the interim’s war room or unpublished spreadsheets.

The leader may stop integrated builds, reorder approved commissioning priorities, restrict equipment use, redeploy launch specialists, replace temporary area leads and allocate SEK1.8 billion of authorised readiness expenditure. Quality owns product disposition and customer evidence; Engineering approves design changes; Safety controls hazardous work. New capital above delegation, permanent appointments and customer specification changes require steering-committee decision.

The remit excludes cell design, long-term procurement strategy, commercial pricing, environmental permitting, factory expansion and validation of supplier financial health. The interim will not trade traceability for output, accept equipment because a vendor test passed, conceal unstable performance behind averaged yield or convert extraordinary launch staffing into the assumed permanent operating model.

Why this seat is open

The launch executive was removed after physical completion measures failed to predict an integrated customer-rate run. Temporary command is required to impose evidence-led entry and exit gates before the committed launch window, while the board recruits a permanent plant leader who will inherit a proven operation rather than a commissioning narrative.

What you will own

  • Rebaseline electrode, assembly, formation, utilities, material and data readiness against integrated production outcomes.
  • Define area and factory entry gates using people, recipe, equipment, material, quality, maintenance and safety evidence.
  • Protect scarce buffer material through trial purpose, consumption limits, abort criteria and learning-accountability rules.
  • Sequence punch-list closure by rate constraint and cross-area consequence rather than equipment-owner completion percentage.
  • Establish shift command, deviation, contamination, utility-event, traceability and constrained-operation decision paths.
  • Lead five rate trials involving supplier variation, recipe drift, utility dip, equipment fault and staffing shortfall.
  • Transfer launch authority after the successor delivers an unseen disruption inside approved yield and traceability tolerances.

Candidate qualifications

  • Held operating or launch authority for battery cells, semiconductors, chemicals or another tightly coupled process factory.
  • Recovered gigafactory readiness where equipment completion obscured unstable integrated flow and operator intervention.
  • Built evidence gates spanning recipe, material, utilities, maintenance, skills, contamination and digital traceability.
  • Protected trial material and customer windows while stopping runs that could not produce decision-useful learning.
  • Respected independent Quality, Engineering and Safety authority under intense investor and customer pressure.
  • Handed launch command to permanent leadership through repeatable customer-rate and unannounced integrated disruption trials.

Non-negotiables

  • Available within eight days for Gothenburg command, twelve area residencies and five rate-readiness trials.
  • Direct complex-factory launch recovery is required; construction completion management alone is insufficient.
