Confidential mandate
Chief Growth and Network Officer — Interim, Diagnostic Services
Urgent / Replacement
An acquisition-led diagnostics platform needs a fourteen-month interim executive to repair network economics, integrate referral channels and hand a proven expansion engine to its successor.
The mandate
Three regional laboratory acquisitions closed faster than the operating model could absorb them, and the growth chief departed during the first integration quarter. Referral leakage, duplicated collection centres and inconsistent physician terms are now obscuring whether the enlarged platform is creating value.
The successful executive will enter within five weeks and serve for fourteen months while the organisation redesigns the permanent role. A retained search starts in month eight, with overlap planned for the final eight weeks if the operating proof points are met.
The mandate finishes when like-for-like revenue growth exceeds twelve per cent for two quarters, ninety per cent of referral partners are on approved commercial terms, and the successor receives a fully costed twenty-four-month network plan backed by centre-level contribution data.
The interim may close or relocate collection points within a ₹6 crore portfolio envelope, reset referral coverage, and approve channel incentives inside board guardrails. Acquisitions, brand retirement and any physician contract above ₹1 crore annual value remain investment-committee decisions; diagnostic pricing floors cannot be waived.
Laboratory automation, pathology quality accreditation and claims-collection remediation are led elsewhere. This seat collaborates on their dependencies but is not accountable for equipment selection, clinical validation or legacy receivables.
Why this seat is open
The former executive resigned ten days after the third transaction completed. Integration decisions that were meant to follow closing have therefore accumulated across competing regional teams. Investors want one temporary decision-maker until the platform can define and recruit a longer-term commercial profile.
What you will own
- Segment every collection centre by strategic role, contribution, catchment overlap and service reliability, then decide its disposition.
- Harmonise referral-partner terms through an approved rate card, exception register and quarterly compliance audit.
- Build a city-cluster growth model linking physician coverage, test mix, logistics cut-off and local marketing investment.
- Reassign sales territories and incentives around profitable patient journeys rather than inherited regional boundaries.
- Establish weekly acquisition-cohort reporting that separates purchased revenue, organic growth, leakage and price effects.
- Author the twenty-four-month network expansion case with hurdle rates, capital phasing and named launch gates.
- Hand the incoming executive a cleansed partner book, site portfolio map and two quarters of comparable operating evidence.
Candidate qualifications
- More than twenty years leading growth or network economics in diagnostics, healthcare services, pharmacy or adjacent consumer-health platforms.
- First-hand integration experience across at least two acquired regional businesses with different brands and referral practices.
- Sophisticated command of centre contribution, test-mix profitability, catchment design and last-mile sample logistics.
- Evidence of changing field-sales incentives while retaining high-value physicians and eliminating non-compliant commercial practices.
- Comfort presenting investment cases to private-capital stakeholders using cohort evidence, downside sensitivities and capital gates.
- Proven ability to design a role for a successor and relinquish authority after an intensive executive assignment.
Non-negotiables
- Based in Bengaluru for the working week, with frequent travel to southern and western clusters.
- Free of interests in competing laboratory chains, referral aggregators or diagnostic franchisees.
- Available no later than five weeks after offer and able to work exclusively for the platform.
- Willing to sign the organisation's physician-interaction and anti-inducement controls.
- 49 words maximum. State your notice position, earliest start and any travel constraint across southern and western India.
- 49 words maximum. Which centre-network decision created the largest measurable contribution improvement under your leadership?
- 49 words maximum. Describe one acquired commercial practice you discontinued and how you protected referral revenue.
