Revenue Contract Portfolio Review Partner mandate in Boston, United States

Confidential Revenue Contract Portfolio Review Partner in Boston, United States, reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer. Consulting Finance & Accounting appointment at Consulting Partner level, a 10-month mandate horizon; five days a week.

The mandate

This project will perform a risk-directed accounting review of a defined revenue contract portfolio and leave a repeatable control for future cases. The Consulting Partner must identify inconsistent fact capture or application, resolve approved corrections and transfer a sustainable review method. The work does not renegotiate customer terms, redesign commercial policy or operate recurring revenue accounting.

Required artifacts are a portfolio-risk model, sampling rationale, contract-fact extraction standard, accounting decision matrix, issue papers for exceptions, correction and disclosure assessment, control recommendations, retest report and owner handbook. Selection must combine quantitative exposure with contract complexity, modification history, judgment intensity and contradictory performance evidence.

Six milestones apply: scope and data sufficiency by 13 November 2026; population analytics and sample by 8 January 2027; first-wave findings by 12 March; remaining case conclusions by 14 May; correction and control retest by 16 July; final handover by 13 August. The Chief Accounting Officer accepts milestones after nominated accounting and contract-fact owners complete review.

Acceptance requires traceability and transfer. Internal reviewers must independently reperform a sample from executed terms through performance-obligation and consideration analysis to timing, entry and disclosure consequence. They must also identify seeded modification and variable-consideration exceptions. Unresolved critical findings or unapproved correction decisions block final acceptance.

Management provides the approved contract population, executed documents, modification history, performance evidence, existing accounting and decisions within five working days. The consultant owns methodology, analysis and deliverables. Management owns facts, conclusions, entries and representations. Legal advice, commercial redesign, system implementation, contract negotiation and ongoing production are excluded.

What you will own

  • Design a risk model and defensible sample combining value, complexity, change history and judgment indicators.
  • Extract decisive contractual and performance facts using a standard that preserves source traceability.
  • Review obligation identification, principal-agent, variable consideration, modification and recognition timing.
  • Classify findings by technical error, missing fact, inconsistent application, control failure or policy ambiguity.
  • Draft correction and disclosure assessments for management decision, including period and comparative effects.
  • Design targeted controls against the actual root causes and retest them on fresh cases.
  • Train internal owners through supervised and independent re-performance.
  • Apply formal change control to legal, commercial, system and production requests.

Candidate qualifications

  • Demonstrate leadership of a portfolio-level ASC 606 or IFRS 15 accounting review using risk-based selection.
  • Describe a sampling indicator that found a material issue simple value selection would have missed.
  • Show how you separated missing commercial facts from erroneous accounting application.
  • Evidence correction governance across recognition, comparative and disclosure consequences.
  • Provide an internal re-performance test that proved the method transferred successfully.
  • Explain how you responded when contract access or factual ownership delayed case conclusions.
  • Show commercial discipline around negotiation, legal opinion and technology scope.

Working terms and boundaries

  • The project fee covers ten months, five days weekly and six deliverable milestones with formal reviews.
  • Management certifies contract facts and approves accounting; consulting owns selection, analysis and artifact quality.
  • Acceptance requires closure or approved disposition of critical findings plus successful internal re-performance.
  • Data or decision delays are documented dependencies handled through change control.
  • Contract negotiation, legal advice, commercial policy, systems build and recurring accounting are excluded.
