Chief Operating Officer — Interim, Wind Asset Management

The mandate

The role oversees operations across 1.8 GW of wind generation capacity, requiring the restoration of turbine availability, the rebuilding of maintenance capability and the establishment of resilient asset-management processes.

The interim must start within two weeks for fifteen months through service insourcing, peak wind season and contract resolution. Permanent recruitment begins after availability exceeds target for one quarter, with eight weeks for transition.

Handover requires technical availability above ninety-six per cent for six months, critical spares coverage above ninety-five per cent, all statutory inspections current, and the successor commanding one fleet-wide severe-weather exercise.

The COO may prioritise turbines, procure emergency services below ₹1 crore and restrict unsafe equipment. OEM settlement, major component capital above ₹5 crore and permanent regional hires require board approval; grid dispatch and insurer claim decisions retain their statutory or contractual owners.

New project construction, power trading and repowering investment are excluded. The mandate restores dependable operation of the existing fleet.

Why this seat is open

OEM withdrawal exposed an asset model overly dependent on one external capability. Availability decline and incomplete records now threaten revenue and insurance coverage together. A temporary COO must create self-sufficient maintenance before a permanent operator inherits the fleet.

What you will own

• Rank turbine losses by energy, safety, fault recurrence, access and repair-resource requirement.
• Decide repair and spares allocation across sites using forecast wind and component-risk evidence.
• Build internal capability for diagnostics, major corrective work, planning and technical documentation.
• Qualify independent service partners without losing configuration or warranty evidence.
• Restore statutory inspection, work-order and component-history records across the fleet.
• Establish daily energy-availability control separating grid, weather, access and technical loss.
• Transfer fleet strategy and severe-weather command after six months of target availability.

Candidate qualifications

• More than twenty-two years in wind, power generation or rotating-equipment asset operations.
• Recovered a multi-site fleet after OEM withdrawal, major contractor failure or chronic availability loss.
• Strong command of turbine diagnostics, major components, spares, access planning and performance analytics.
• Experience building internal maintenance while controlling third-party technical and safety risk.
• Demonstrated availability improvement verified against energy and exclusions, not headline mechanical uptime alone.
• Ability to negotiate with OEMs, insurers and lenders while protecting immediate asset integrity.
