Workforce-Communications Accessibility Architecture Director mandate in Mexico City, Mexico · Omnichannel Retail Operations

A Mexico City retailer commissions a five-month architecture so safety, pay, scheduling and benefit messages reach multilingual frontline workers accessibly and produce evidence beyond superficial acknowledgements.

The mandate

Safety alerts, pay changes, shift notices, benefit choices and conduct instructions travel through email, workforce apps, manager huddles, printed boards and personal messaging accounts. Night workers and seasonal hires often lack authenticated devices, translations arrive after deadlines, and screen-reader or low-literacy needs are handled locally. A distribution-centre emergency showed that a clicked acknowledgement did not prove the affected workforce received, understood or could act on the instruction.

The five-month deliverable is a workforce-communications accessibility architecture covering message criticality, audience truth, authorised sender, channel availability, language, format, disability accommodation, shift timing, manager relay, acknowledgement, comprehension check, response route, escalation, correction and retention. It must distinguish evidence of delivery, access, understanding and action rather than collapsing them into a platform-open metric.

Milestone one at week four accepts message, population and channel maps; week eight approves accessibility and evidence rules; week thirteen completes six frontline journeys; week eighteen rehearses outage, translation and urgent-correction scenarios; and week twenty-two accepts standards, control specifications, training cases, vendor requirements and implementation backlog. Fee release follows recorded acceptance by named People, Operations and Accessibility owners.

Acceptance requires client teams to deliver twelve unseen messages across store, warehouse, field and corporate populations; identify who could not access each route; provide an equivalent alternative; correct one materially mistranslated instruction; and reproduce evidence without consultant tooling. The Chief People Officer signs only when critical messages reach an agreed threshold and unresolved workers enter a timed human escalation rather than disappearing from a dashboard.

The client will provide workforce and shift populations, channel inventories, device and identity access, representative messages, translations, accommodation requirements, vendor contracts, delivery records, incident evidence, consultation obligations and named owners. The consultant will not write final policy, determine legal sufficiency, contact employees, operate production channels, assess disability, make employment decisions or certify accessibility compliance.

Why this is external work

Communication teams optimise message production, platforms report opens and local managers improvise around access gaps, but no owner can prove the end-to-end employee outcome. Independent architecture can connect population, channel, accessibility and operational response without becoming an employee-contact centre, policy author, technology operator or compliance certifier.

What you will own

  • Inventory safety, pay, schedule, benefits, conduct, change and emergency messages with their audiences, deadlines and consequences.
  • Map authenticated and shared devices, personal channels, noticeboards, huddles, call routes and inaccessible channel dependencies by shift.
  • Define controlled language, translation, readable format, caption, audio, screen-reader, assisted-access and alternative-route standards.
  • Separate sent, delivered, opened, accessed, understood, questioned and acted evidence for each message-criticality class.
  • Design escalation for missing identity, absent worker, channel outage, translation defect, accessibility failure and urgent correction.
  • Rehearse overnight emergency, payroll deadline, low-connectivity store, hearing accommodation and wrong-language scenarios.
  • Deliver journey maps, message controls, population reconciliation, accessibility specifications, evidence rules and implementation priorities.

Candidate qualifications

  • Designed critical workforce-communication operating models across dispersed retail, logistics or other large frontline populations.
  • Connected workforce identity, shift, channel, device, language and accommodation evidence without assuming a platform open meant access.
  • Built multilingual and accessible alternatives for employees using shared devices, assisted routes or limited-connectivity workplaces.
  • Distinguished delivery, comprehension and action evidence while preserving privacy and proportionate monitoring boundaries.
  • Worked across People, Operations, Safety, Payroll, Benefits, Accessibility, Employee Relations and worker representation.
  • Transferred durable message controls through client-run outage, mistranslation, inaccessible-format and urgent-correction rehearsals.

Non-negotiables

  • Can lead Mexico City laboratories and all three controlled accessibility rehearsals within five months.
  • Brings high-consequence frontline communication architecture; corporate-channel management alone is insufficient.
  • Will disclose workforce-app, translation, accessibility, identity, messaging and communication-consulting relationships.
  • Will not contact employees, write final policy, assess disability, advise legally, operate channels or certify compliance.
  1. 49 words maximum. Describe a critical workforce message whose platform acknowledgement overstated actual employee access.
  2. 49 words maximum. How would you evidence comprehension without imposing intrusive monitoring on frontline workers?
  3. 49 words maximum. Which translation or accessibility failure would you use for final acceptance?
