Order-to-Cash Global Process Director mandate in Melbourne, Australia
Confidential Order-to-Cash Global Process Director in Melbourne, Australia, reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer. Permanent Finance & Accounting appointment at Director level, an ongoing appointment; full time.
The mandate
The Order-to-Cash Global Process Director will own the permanent enterprise design from customer commitment through correct billing, receivables, dispute, collection and cash application. The role must connect commercial and operational inputs to finance outcomes without taking over customer ownership, revenue policy or transactional service management.
In the first 100 days, the director will establish the true process perimeter, identify material variants and expose where queues or measures hide transferred work. By month six, standards, decision rights, exception governance and end-to-end outcome measures should operate for priority journeys. By month twelve, recurring leakage and dispute causes should be lower and process ownership should function across markets.
The director can set global process standards, approve designs within delegation, require corrective ownership and recommend investment sequence. The role may reject an unsupported variation or claim of process readiness. Commercial terms, customer negotiation, revenue accounting, credit authority and service-team operations remain with designated leaders.
Process success will be judged by correct obligation conversion, valid and timely invoices, resolution quality, collected and applied cash, controllership and total rework. A collection improvement produced by indiscriminate customer pressure or a billing gain followed by credits is not value. Measures must preserve consequence across the journey.
The permanent leader will build a network of market process owners and capable deputies, with decisions recorded and adoption evidenced. Improvement choices will begin with commercial, process and data root cause before adding automation. The objective is an adaptable process institution, not a central catalogue of rules.
What you will own
- Define the enterprise process and accountability chain from commitment and fulfilment evidence through invoice, dispute, collection and application.
- Establish end-to-end measures that expose credits, rebills, ageing resets, unapplied cash, retained effort and customer consequence.
- Govern local variation through evidence, decision owner, expiry, counter-metric and recertification.
- Exercise authority to reject unsupported designs or readiness claims within delegated process governance.
- Create cause-led dispute and leakage feedback so commercial and operational owners correct recurring upstream failure.
- Sequence simplification, data, control, service and automation investments through a single value-and-risk portfolio.
- Develop deputies and market owners able to make and implement enterprise process decisions.
- Publish a first-year process health account reconciling operating improvement to cash, accounting and customer outcomes.
Candidate qualifications
- Show permanent ownership of order-to-cash across commercial, operational and finance boundaries in multiple markets.
- Provide an example where a positive billing or collection metric concealed credits, transferred work or customer harm.
- Demonstrate governance of local variation without confusing preference with legitimate market need.
- Bring deep understanding of commitment, billing, disputes, credit, collections and cash application interfaces.
- Evidence influence while respecting commercial, revenue-policy, credit and service-operation authority.
- Describe root-cause improvement that reduced both backlog and new exception inflow.
- Show development of process-owner successors and evidence of adoption beyond published standards.
Working terms and boundaries
- This is a full-time permanent appointment owning order-to-cash process design, standards, outcomes and improvement priority.
- Customer negotiation, revenue accounting, credit approval and service-team leadership remain with designated executives.
- Unsupported variation and readiness may be rejected within formal process delegation.
- First-year evaluation covers leakage, dispute inflow, cash application, rework, adoption and process capability.
- Long-term incentives remain subject to approved plan and vesting conditions.
