Acquisition Leadership-Assessment Director mandate in Madrid, Spain · Renewable Infrastructure Development

A renewable-infrastructure buyer needs an eight-week assessment of target leaders whose project records, stakeholder influence and claimed succession depth cannot be compared through interviews alone.

The mandate

A buyer needs to determine which target executives should lead development, construction and stakeholder portfolios after acquisition. Seller biographies present every leader as indispensable, references are controlled and project outcomes reflect teams, regulation and market timing as much as individuals. The buyer needs evidence of actual decisions, learning and successor depth before integration roles are promised or retention terms are finalised.

The eight-week deliverable will be a leadership evidence matrix, scenario assessment, reference synthesis and integration-role risk report. Milestone one agrees future-role outcomes and evidence standards in week two; milestone two completes track-record interviews and artefact review in week four; milestone three runs comparable simulations and references in week six; milestone four provides role recommendations, development risks, limitations and decision records.

The client will provide future organisation assumptions, role outcomes, candidate histories, project records, available performance evidence, approved references, interview access, retention constraints and legal or privacy protocols. Acceptance requires every conclusion to identify observed evidence and inference separately, comparable candidates to face equivalent core scenarios, conflicts to be documented and the transaction people committee to reproduce the reasoning behind each risk rating.

The consultants will not appoint or reject executives, diagnose personality, negotiate retention, verify technical engineering, contact unapproved references, make employment decisions or disclose findings beyond authorised recipients. The buyer owns roles and decisions. The team can describe readiness and evidence gaps but cannot convert lack of access into an adverse character conclusion.

Outputs will distinguish demonstrated track record, context, simulation behaviour, reference testimony, development possibility and untested risk. Candidate dignity and transaction confidentiality govern every interaction. Coaching, post-close team development, executive search and assessment of additional populations after week eight remain outside the engagement.

Why this is external work

The seller controls much of the candidate narrative, while buyer executives are already forming views through deal interactions. Internal talent teams lack capacity and political distance to assess leaders before role promises harden. Independent assessment can establish comparable evidence quickly without taking employment authority or pretending that interviews predict every future outcome.

What you will own

  • Define future-role outcomes, critical incidents, stakeholder demands and disqualifying risks with integration decision makers.
  • Reconstruct candidate track records through specific decisions, consequences, context, team contribution and learned response.
  • Design comparable simulations spanning project failure, community opposition, capital constraint and cross-border integration.
  • Conduct structured interviews and authorised references that test claims rather than solicit broad reputation endorsement.
  • Separate observed behaviour, corroborated history, inference, missing access and development hypothesis in every assessment.
  • Calibrate role readiness, retention dependency, successor depth and integration risk across the candidate population.
  • Deliver evidence matrices, simulation records, reference synthesis, limitations and committee-ready role risk recommendations.

Candidate qualifications

  • Led confidential acquisition leadership diligence for infrastructure, energy or project-development executive populations under compressed transaction deadlines.
  • Reconstructed individual contribution from complex project outcomes involving teams, regulation, capital constraints and contested stakeholder context.
  • Designed consequential, comparable simulations without turning assessment into theatrical presentation scoring or stylistic preference.
  • Conducted evidence-seeking senior references under seller-controlled access, explicit consent and strict transaction confidentiality.
  • Distinguished observed role readiness from inference, reputation, personality preference, contextual advantage and material missing information.
  • Delivered calibrated role-risk and development recommendations while leaving appointment, retention and employment decisions entirely with the buyer.

Non-negotiables

  • Can complete three project visits and eight candidate sessions within the eight-week engagement.
  • Will disclose candidate, seller, buyer, search-firm, investor and competing-project relationships.
  • Brings acquisition-specific executive assessment; generic psychometrics or recruitment interviewing is insufficient.
  • Accepts no authority over appointment, rejection, retention negotiation, diagnosis, search or technical certification.
  1. 49 words maximum. Describe a transaction candidate whose project reputation differed from evidence of personal decisions.
  2. 49 words maximum. How would you handle a material readiness question when seller access blocks corroboration?
  3. 49 words maximum. Which assessment condition must remain identical across competing integration-role candidates?
