A pharmaceutical cold-chain operator needs a twelve-month executive after an orchestration release stranded refrigeration gateways offline and obscured which local policies remained authoritative in transit.
The mandate
A fleet-orchestration update left hundreds of refrigeration gateways unable to authenticate after intermittent links returned, while locally cached temperature policies continued under different versions. Operations could see delayed telemetry but could not prove which devices had applied which control rule during transit. The edge-platform leader resigned after quarantined pharmaceutical loads revealed weak rollback, identity recovery and cloud-to-device reconciliation controls.
The interim must arrive in Jakarta within three weeks and lead for twelve months, with a possible two-month extension only if qualification of the final vehicle class is delayed by an external certification body. The permanent distributed-platform search starts after two countries operate the common update and reconciliation model, expected in month six. The successor must overlap for at least six weeks.
Handover requires every device class to boot, authenticate, enforce an approved offline policy, reject unsafe or incompatible releases, preserve an attributable event history and reconcile without overwriting more authoritative local evidence; three connectivity-loss drills must pass across vehicle, depot and border scenarios; quality must accept the audit trail; and the successor must command the final staged fleet rollout.
The interim may stop over-the-air releases, quarantine device cohorts, select rollout sequence, set offline control envelopes, change temporary service suppliers and commit up to IDR 180 billion within the recovery plan. Permanent hiring, refrigeration hardware redesign, product-disposition decisions and single commitments above IDR 35 billion require sponsor or quality-council approval. The seat cannot waive regulated storage limits.
Warehouse-management replacement, route optimisation, vehicle procurement and reform of non-pharmaceutical logistics are explicitly out of scope. The remit covers gateway identity, local policy authority, fleet orchestration, safe update and rollback, disconnected evidence, reconciliation, field support and the operating model for qualified cold-chain edge control.
Why this seat is open
The release proved that cloud visibility did not equal control over devices moving through unreliable networks, and the leader’s departure left technology and quality arguing over the authoritative record. Quarantines are eroding customer confidence while manual field visits cannot scale across the fleet. Temporary authority is required to restore bounded offline operation and transfer a qualified platform to permanent ownership.
What you will own
- Reconstruct release, identity, cache, connectivity, local-control and reconciliation behaviour for affected gateways and quarantined consignments.
- Define authority rules for cloud intent, device state, sensor evidence, operator override, expiry, clock uncertainty and delayed reconnection.
- Segment device cohorts by hardware, firmware, refrigeration interface, geography, connectivity profile and product consequence before any rollout.
- Establish signed release, compatibility, staged deployment, health gate, rollback, recovery identity and field-replacement controls.
- Design reconciliation that preserves local chronology, detects conflict, resists duplicate commands and prevents stale cloud policy overwriting valid evidence.
- Command drills involving prolonged disconnection, expired credentials, partial update, clock drift, sensor fault, depot handoff and cloud-control loss.
- Transfer fleet inventory, qualification evidence, release status, exceptions, field capability and incident command through a successor-led rollout.
Candidate qualifications
- Led edge orchestration for geographically dispersed devices that continued controlling physical processes during intermittent connectivity.
- Recovered a failed fleet update involving identity, rollback, cached policy or post-disconnection state reconciliation.
- Designed authority and conflict rules across cloud commands, local controllers, human overrides, clocks and delayed evidence.
- Operated regulated cold-chain, medical, industrial or comparable device fleets where software state affected product or physical safety.
- Qualified releases across heterogeneous hardware and field conditions using staged cohorts and measurable stop criteria.
- Handed a distributed-platform recovery to permanent leadership with operators and quality teams able to run the controls independently.
Non-negotiables
- Can begin in Jakarta within three weeks and travel monthly to depots, borders or regional control facilities.
- Will accept exclusive executive responsibility and continuous escalation duty for qualified edge releases during the term.
