Confidential mandate

Director of Metro Systems — Interim, Urban Rail

Urgent / Replacement

A signalling incident and director suspension require a fourteen-month interim leader to remediate metro systems, recertify operations and qualify permanent engineering command safely for the network.

The mandate

A wrong-side signalling indication triggered emergency braking and service suspension on one corridor. The systems director was suspended after undocumented configuration differences emerged between test and revenue environments.

The interim must start within ten days for fourteen months through investigation, correction and recertification. An internal deputy will inherit the seat after two observed engineering and operational emergency exercises.

Handover requires the incident cause independently closed, all configuration baselines reconciled, safety certification restored, service reliability above 99.7 per cent for six months, and the deputy signing one complete systems-change assurance case.

The director may stop service recommendations, freeze change and approve forensic or test support below ₹75 lakh. Revenue restart, public communication, capital above ₹3 crore and disciplinary findings require board authority; the independent safety assessor retains certification judgment.

Network expansion, fare policy and station commercial development are excluded. The mandate restores systems integrity and assured change on the operating corridor.

Why this seat is open

Suspension preserves independence while the configuration history and prior approvals are examined. Fragmented acting cover cannot integrate signalling, rolling stock, control and operations risk. A finite systems leader must close the event and qualify the deputy under live assurance conditions.

What you will own

  • Preserve and reconcile signalling software, data, interlocking, rolling-stock and control-centre configuration evidence.
  • Decide containment, test and staged-service recommendations from the accepted hazard analysis.
  • Rebuild configuration control across development, test, shadow and revenue environments.
  • Approve regression, degraded-mode and interface test protocols with independent assessor review.
  • Close incident actions through verified design, procedure, training and monitoring evidence.
  • Run engineering command exercises covering signalling loss, train immobilisation and control-centre failover.
  • Qualify the deputy through one end-to-end systems change and two emergency exercises.

Candidate qualifications

  • More than twenty-two years in metro or mainline rail systems with senior signalling and assurance authority.
  • Led recovery after a signalling, train-control or configuration event affecting revenue service.
  • Deep expertise in CBTC or comparable signalling, rolling-stock interfaces, telecom, traction and control centres.
  • Experience building and defending safety cases with independent assessors and statutory authorities.
  • Ability to preserve forensic evidence while implementing urgent operational safeguards.
  • Demonstrated successor qualification through live systems change and emergency command.

Non-negotiables

  • Available onsite in Delhi NCR within ten days and for overnight engineering possessions.
  • Independent of suppliers, assessors and individuals involved in the incident.
  • Will not recommend revenue restart before accepted safety evidence exists.
  • Can commit for fourteen months through recertification and deputy handover.
  1. 49 words maximum. State your earliest Delhi NCR start and availability for overnight possessions.
  2. 49 words maximum. Which signalling incident did you close, and what configuration mismatch caused it?
  3. 49 words maximum. What evidence did an independent assessor require before revenue-service restart?
