The defined problem is to design an end-to-end recovery network that decides disposition early, matches bulky-item transport and workshop capacity, and proves a second sale or material route rather than counting collection as circular success.

The named output begins at the customer door, not the reverse hub: a Furniture Repair-and-Resale Logistics Architecture connecting return eligibility, collection access, disassembly, protective handling, custody and receipt to damage and hygiene inspection, parts reservation, repair authorisation, workshop routing, quality acceptance, photography, pricing handoff, resale allocation, warranty, donation, component recovery, recycling and residue. The client provides de-identified return journeys, item master and assembly data, collection records, inspection results, parts inventory, workshop capacity, resale outcomes, warranty rules, recycling invoices, costs and controlled site access. Consultants will not inspect products for safety, set prices, approve warranty, direct live collections, select providers or certify recycled content. Software build, procurement, store operation and live rollout are excluded; specialist decisions remain dependencies.

Why this is external work

Customer care closes the return, transport closes collection, hubs close receipt and resale closes the listing, yet bulky inventory remains between them. The retailer needs neutral reverse-network design before investing in workshops. • Reconstruct sixty furniture journeys from customer decision and collection through inspection, repair, resale, donation, recovery or residue.
• Segment items by size, disassembly, transport risk, hygiene, safety, repairability, part need, resale demand and material route.
• Define decision rights among customer care, carriers, hubs, product safety, workshops, parts, resale, warranty and recyclers.
• Build early disposition gates for collect, repair onsite, move, harvest, sell, donate, recycle and customer remedy.
• Test eight hubs through peak returns, missing parts, workshop loss, failed collection and resale rejection.
• Quantify collection, dwell, handling, repair, markdown, warranty, recycling and recovered value without setting resale prices.
• Deliver the accepted architecture, hub transitions, contracts, systems requirements and costed rollout backlog.

Candidate qualifications

• Has designed bulky-goods reverse logistics, furniture repair or recommerce networks across multiple regions.
• Can evidence a recovery model changed after workshop, parts and resale acceptance were joined.
• Understands home collection, disassembly, bulky transport, inspection, repair, parts, resale, donation and recycling.
• Has aligned customer, safety and commercial teams without making product or pricing judgments.
• Can distinguish collected item, inspected condition, repair-ready unit, accepted resale stock and completed material route.
• Has left regional hubs with repeatable disposition rules tested through return peaks, workshop disruption and constrained resale demand.

Non-negotiables

• Can complete eight reverse-hub laboratories, six workshop trials and two seasonal simulations in five months.
• Will not approve product safety, set prices, decide warranty, direct collections or certify recycling.
• Brings direct bulky-goods repair and recommerce architecture; store merchandising or waste consulting alone is insufficient.
• Will preserve inspection-pending, parts-waiting, repair-rejected and resale-rejected items in every recovery measure.
