Porcelain Manifesto: make a clear position the beginning of a serious leadership record
Porcelain Manifesto gives a leader's point of view a prominent visual opening, then asks the supporting record to carry its weight. Its fictional Chinese insurance CMO, Jianru Zhou, argues that reputation is shaped partly by the attention an institution declines to buy. The design connects that position with decisions, a full career and an accountable board contribution.
A name treated as identity, with the proposition kept distinct
The cover divides the leader's name into large uppercase lines, using a solid first line and an outlined final name. Beneath it, a duotone portrait sits alongside the professional thesis, a brief biographical opening and routes into the fuller story. The identity makes an immediate impression while the proposition remains readable as a separate statement of professional judgement.
Porcelain combines pale neutral reading surfaces with a deep blue-black cover and a warm brown accent. Archivo supplies the strong display typography; Source Serif 4 gives the supporting prose a different rhythm. The name treatment adapts to its available width, including longer names selected through the leadership lens. This is a design for a leader prepared to state an argument clearly, with sufficient evidence on the following pages to make the scale of the opening feel earned.
Convictions that point towards decisions
Broad numbered bands present the executive's areas of expertise. The adjacent invitation opens the complete case record, where readers can assess the decisions behind the stated expertise. Jianru's demonstration moves from communication in changing circumstances to intermediary responsibilities, service preparation and the limits of reputation evidence.
Those subjects are deliberately different from a list of marketing channels. They tell a reader what kind of decision the person can help examine. The route into the decision account makes that claim available for closer examination. A real candidate should choose capabilities that their record supports, then give the reader the trade-off behind each example. The typography can make a phrase memorable; it cannot supply the substance that the phrase needs.
Large figures with the authority behind them explained
The measure section gives numbers substantial visual space, accompanied by labels and context. In the sample, sixty-two employees remain distinct from twenty-eight agency personnel, and CNY118 million is identified as the 2026 marketing authority. The insurer's CNY8.4 billion gross written premium appears as company context in the professional record, rather than becoming an implied personal revenue responsibility.
A full-width declaration follows, setting out the leader's approach in a more reflective voice. This change of scale lets the site move from identity and responsibility into reasoning. When adapting the design, keep measures selective and well defined. A short numerical account with a period, unit and scope is more useful than several large figures whose relationship to the candidate is unclear.
A case record that preserves the cost of changing course
The home sequence and dedicated impact page give the decisions room to be examined. The fictional CMO cancels a promotional schedule during a flood, chooses smaller intermediary forums and reduces a service campaign's initial footprint. Another case changes customer-story films into fictional service explanations; the final reputation inquiry remains unfinished.
These choices are not presented as equivalent success stories. The account retains unrecoverable placement expenditure, the partner firms that did not attend and the money left uncommitted after a proposal changed. It does not invent a trust or premium uplift to make every recommendation appear certain in retrospect. The Manifesto structure works best when the strong opening leads to this level of considered evidence, allowing a senior reader to assess the argument rather than merely admire its presentation.
Career and Readiness that carry the same visual character into detail
The native Career page uses the design's substantial headings and structured records to explain five appointments, beginning with agency account work in July 1996. Dated employer scale, team size, reporting line and financial authority distinguish each stage. The movement into the insurer, then intermediary communication and group brand, explains how the CMO's perspective developed.
Readiness examines a different question: what could that experience contribute to collective oversight? Jianru has one fictional non-executive directorship, held since September 2023, with fourteen annual days already committed. His proposed eighteen additional days are presented separately and remain subject to consent, relationships and the actual calendar. The page makes no immediate committee-chair claim. A real leader should build an equally specific account of their own experience and capacity rather than borrow the demonstration's status.
An argument that continues through essays and professional conversation
The writing section uses strong topic and title treatments to lead into three developed essays. They examine why a media booking does not settle whether an insurer should speak, why a shared logo needs a workable communication process and why a customer's claim is not automatically an advertising asset. Proposed sessions and fictional media items extend those arguments for different audiences.
The contact page then asks for the situation and decision behind an introduction. That completes a useful progression from a visible position to the kind of conversation it might support. The demonstration does not claim that the speaking appearances or publications have occurred, and its contact route does not represent a real individual. Replace those elements with accurate, authorised material when preparing a professional site.
Review the manifesto at the scale your reader will use
Examine the cover on a phone as well as a larger display, paying attention to the outlined name, the portrait and the longer thesis. Then move into Career and Readiness and inspect their print versions. The same leadership account needs to remain understandable when a reader changes from an expressive cover to detailed appointment evidence.
Designation, industry and market controls let you inspect other stories within the composition, while reset returns to the design's own leader. The Global example here is China-market. Until its separate India story is written, the India lens uses the completed Global record with the preparation note stated openly. The design choice should follow how well the complete structure supports your material, not only the impact of its first screen.
Questions about this design
- Does a manifesto layout require aggressive or promotional language?
- No. The visual scale can support a measured professional position. The example uses explicit decisions, costs and limits, giving readers material with which to assess the opening argument.
- How should I choose a thesis for this cover?
- Start with a judgement that your cases can support and that matters to the audience you want to reach. Avoid a universal slogan that could belong to any role; the following record should explain why this is your position.
- Can the design present both executive and non-executive work?
- Yes. Keep the capacities, dates and time commitments separate. The sample distinguishes its CMO appointment, executive board presentations and one actual fictional non-executive role before discussing an additional contribution.
- What should remain visible when a programme is unfinished?
- State the decision already taken, the resources committed and the work still pending. The reputation inquiry in this example has an initial research stage and a later decision outstanding, without an invented final commercial result.
