The problem this seat exists to solve

The programme director will lead operational preparation for a hospital quality or accreditation programme. The assignment should strengthen everyday systems and evidence of use, rather than organise a short-lived exercise in document completion.

Programme responsibilities

Translate the selected assessment framework into an owned improvement plan with clinical and operational leaders. Identify gaps in governance, documentation, staff capability and evidence. Sequence work according to risk and dependency, and ensure the programme does not overwhelm routine service delivery.

Evidence that practice has changed

Use observation, record review and staff discussion to test whether procedures are understood and followed. Track corrective actions to demonstrated implementation. Where a clinical standard is involved, secure review and approval from the appropriate clinical authority rather than treating the programme office as the decision-maker.

The programme should distinguish evidence of policy approval, staff understanding and sustained use. For each priority gap, identify what would demonstrate that the practice has changed and who is competent to assess it. The director should coordinate dependencies between departments so one team is not judged ready while relying on an incomplete process elsewhere. Readiness reviews should surface unresolved issues honestly, including resource or leadership decisions that the programme team cannot make, rather than encouraging teams to report completion to protect the timetable.

Qualified candidates

Candidates should have led hospital quality improvement or accreditation-readiness programmes and be familiar with the chosen framework once confirmed. They need strong coordination skills and experience converting findings into sustained practice. A clinical qualification may be relevant to particular responsibilities but should not be assumed to authorise work beyond the candidate’s registration.

Definition of completion

The programme should leave clear ownership, reliable evidence and a process for continued improvement. Assessment success cannot be guaranteed. Candidates should explain how they have addressed a gap that appeared closed on paper but persisted in practice, and how they maintained staff engagement without reducing readiness to inspection rehearsal.

Appointment
Interim executive

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim mandate needs work authorisation. A board seat in Thailand usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in Thailand
A non-resident director attending board meetings does not require a work permit. Executive and resident roles require a non-immigrant visa and work permit.
