Agricultural commodities organisation in Singapore
The problem this seat exists to solve
Deliver an exposure map, a prioritised list of information and control gaps, and a proposed management reporting view. Each recommendation should have an owner, a decision purpose and an indication of implementation effort. This is advisory work with no authority to approve counterparties, alter limits or execute hedging. Management retains those powers. The final output must distinguish verified transaction facts, reasoned assumptions and unresolved questions, allowing the business to act without overstating the completeness of the assessment.
Reveal risks that sit between separate reports
The adviser will build a practical view of exposures across agricultural commodity transactions. The work connects commercial positions, physical stock, receivables, financing and delivery obligations so that management can understand where risks reinforce one another. It is not a request for an abstract risk taxonomy detached from the transactions the business actually undertakes.
Select representative transaction flows and trace them from contract approval to final settlement. Identify how quantity, quality, price, location and timing are recorded and reconciled. Examine where a risk appears offset in one system but remains open because the corresponding contract has different terms or uncertain performance.
Concentrations, disruptions and management choices
Assess counterparty concentration alongside common dependencies such as a shared storage facility, transport route or financing provider. Review how disputes, delayed documentation and partial delivery affect reported exposure. The adviser should make clear when the available information is insufficient to support a confident conclusion and propose a proportionate way to close the gap.
Develop scenarios around plausible disruptions and show their effect on cash and operational choices. Recommendations should distinguish exposures that management can reduce directly from those that need limits, contingency arrangements or explicit acceptance. Avoid implying that every risk can be eliminated through more reporting.
Commodity risk expertise
Candidates should have substantive commodity risk, physical trading control or trade-finance experience, including agricultural products. They need strong analytical skills and the ability to understand contract economics without assuming that a standard financial instrument captures every physical risk. Experience facilitating decisions across trading, logistics and finance is particularly relevant.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement
No office of director, and no appointment formalities.
An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Singapore. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.
- On this brief
- Independence
- Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
