The problem this seat exists to solve
The adviser will assess cross-border commodity exposure across payment, logistics, documentation and counterparty relationships. The mandate focuses on the points where a commercially sound trade can become difficult to complete, finance or recover.
Exposure mapping
Trace the transaction across jurisdictions, currencies and contractual parties. Identify dependencies on ports, transport, storage and payment channels. Examine where delays change ownership, risk allocation or funding needs, with legal and regulatory interpretations referred to the relevant specialists.
Recommendations for risk decisions
Develop a framework for assessing country, transfer, settlement and performance exposure alongside counterparty credit. Recommend concentration measures and escalation triggers when conditions change. Test contingency options for interrupted logistics or delayed payment, including the cost and feasibility of redirecting goods.
Scenario analysis should identify the point at which goods, documents and money stop moving together. A payment delay may leave goods accruing storage costs, while a transport interruption can extend the period of unsecured exposure. The adviser should recommend which events require renewed approval and what contingency options are genuinely available. Where redirecting goods is proposed, assess operational feasibility and the need for specialist clearance rather than assuming an alternative buyer or route can be used immediately at the expected price.
Qualified candidates
Candidates should have cross-border commodity-risk, trade-finance or agricultural trading experience. They need operational understanding of trade flows and the ability to coordinate specialist input without obscuring the commercial decision. Experience managing an interrupted transaction is especially useful.
What decision-makers should receive
Provide a clear exposure map, scenario analysis and practical recommendations for monitoring and transaction conditions. Candidates should explain a case where the counterparty remained solvent but repayment or delivery still failed. The work should avoid unsupported assurances about enforceability, sanctions clearance or market access; its value is identifying the questions and evidence required before risk is accepted.

- Advisory engagement
Before you apply — an advisory engagement
No office of director, and no appointment formalities.
An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Singapore. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.
- On this brief
- Independence
- Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.

Singapore·Agribusiness & Food
Agricultural commodities organisation in Singapore

Independent Director — Board Risk Committee Member
Singapore·Banking & Financial Services
Commodity finance organisation in Singapore
The seat calls for senior credit or commodity-finance risk experience, financial literacy and the ability to evaluate risk frameworks at board level. Candidates should have worked through a stressed portfolio or significant loss event and be able to distinguish deficiencies in risk selection from failures of monitoring or control.
Non-Executive Director — Risk Oversight, Warehousing and Collateral
Singapore·Banking & Financial Services
Storage and collateral services organisation in Singapore
This board role focuses on the credibility of services that provide confidence over stored goods and collateral. The director must understand how custody, records, staff conduct and release procedures can either support or undermine that confidence.
