The problem this seat exists to solve
The advisor will examine how the operating and control design of a digital investment platform should support its proposed services. The engagement concerns the interaction between technology, client outcomes, asset records, outsourced dependencies and management accountability. Any activity-specific legal or regulatory position must be confirmed by qualified advisers for the actual business and jurisdiction.
Advice begins with the transaction
Trace how a client instruction becomes an accepted transaction, how ownership or entitlement is recorded and how discrepancies are identified. Examine the points at which automation relies on external data, service providers or manual intervention. Where tokenised or distributed records are proposed, distinguish the technology representation from the underlying rights and obligations.
Evaluate how the platform would handle failed transactions, conflicting records, unauthorised access or loss of a critical provider. Review segregation of responsibilities and the evidence needed to support reconciliation and customer communication. The objective is to expose gaps in accountability before volume or product complexity increases.
A decision-ready architecture review
Produce a set of prioritised design recommendations, each linked to a failure scenario and an accountable internal owner. Identify choices that must be settled before launch and those that can be managed through a controlled development plan. Recommendations should consider cost, operational complexity and the ability to demonstrate that a control actually works.
The advisor will not approve products, certify compliance or assume responsibility for client assets. Management retains decisions on service design and deployment. Relevant relationships with technology vendors or prospective counterparties must be disclosed so that the advice remains independent.
Expertise the assignment requires
Candidates should demonstrate experience at the intersection of financial-service operations, digital architecture and technology risk. They must explain a situation in which a technically sound design was insufficient because the operating responsibilities were unclear. Familiarity with reconciliation, access governance and outsourcing risk is essential.
The final recommendation should help leadership decide what the platform is ready to do, under what constraints and with what evidence. A successful engagement leaves a coherent control design and a clear route for resolving uncertainties, rather than treating a sophisticated technology stack as proof of operational readiness.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement
No office of director, and no appointment formalities.
An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Singapore. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.
- On this brief
- Independence
- Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
