Enterprise technology and AI organisation in Singapore
The problem this seat exists to solve
This is a director appointment for an enterprise whose financial-service proposition depends materially on technology. The director will share collective responsibilities while strengthening oversight of operating risk, outsourced dependencies and service integrity. The appointment does not replace executive risk, compliance or technology leadership. Eligibility, independence and any approval requirements must be established for the actual office.
Follow the obligation to the customer
Challenge how management ensures that customer instructions are processed accurately, records remain dependable and failures are corrected promptly. Examine the relationship between product design and operational capacity, especially where new services increase transaction complexity or reliance on external infrastructure.
Review evidence on access, reconciliation, change control and recovery. Ask how management detects problems that do not immediately appear as system outages, such as incomplete processing or inconsistent records. Customer complaints and manual corrections may reveal weaknesses that conventional availability measures miss.
Growth decisions that change exposure
Contribute to scrutiny of new products, market entry and major sourcing choices. Test whether the control environment can support the proposed scale and whether the business understands the responsibilities retained when activities are outsourced. Where AI or other advanced automation is introduced, focus on the decision being made and the consequences of error rather than the technology label.
The director will seek specialist advice on legal or regulatory matters as needed and ensure that management's interpretation is properly supported. They will not approve individual transactions or act as an operational escalation desk.
What candidates should demonstrate
Candidates need senior financial-service, technology-risk or operating leadership with experience of consequential customer and control outcomes. They should explain how they challenged a commercially attractive proposal whose operating foundations were incomplete. Financial literacy, independent judgement and the ability to work constructively within a board are essential.
Evidence of useful governance
The board should receive clearer information on service integrity and on the choices that increase or reduce exposure. Successful contribution supports growth that the enterprise can control, earlier recognition of systemic problems and credible management accountability. The director must help the board distinguish a business operating within understood limits from one whose apparent reliability depends on manual intervention or untested provider assurances.
