The problem this seat exists to solve

The director will lead an executive programme to make critical management information reliable enough for operating decisions. The assignment addresses conflicting reports, disputed definitions and manual reconciliations that prevent leaders from agreeing what action is needed. It requires implemented ownership and controls, not a recommendation for a new reporting platform alone.

Restore information around consequential decisions

Identify the information needed for consequential choices on customers, resources, cash and delivery. Trace the most important measures to their source and determine why different versions exist. Separate a genuine difference in purpose from inconsistent definitions or unreliable data.

Relevant finance, operations and transformation experience

Applicants should have senior finance, operations or transformation experience with direct responsibility for improving management information. They must explain a case where a reporting dispute concealed an operating or accountability problem. The ability to work across technical and commercial teams is essential.

Reconcile ownership and change how management uses the evidence

Lead finance, operations and technology teams in agreeing definitions and resolving material discrepancies. Establish who owns source quality, who validates outputs and who can approve changes. Where data cannot be made fully reliable immediately, introduce explicit limitations and proportionate checks so that decisions can still proceed honestly.

The director will manage the approved improvement team and prioritise work by decision value. Technology investment should follow a clear diagnosis. Avoid creating a larger reporting layer that conceals unresolved source problems or leaves ownership with temporary analysts.

Introduce review routines that use the reconciled information to make decisions and test assumptions. Remove reports that no longer serve a purpose. Ensure that managers understand the limits of measures and do not confuse precision of presentation with accuracy.

Reserved policy, expenditure and formal reporting decisions remain with authorised owners. The director must coordinate these dependencies and provide evidence for approval.

Success means leaders spend less time debating which number is correct and more time deciding what to do. The handover should leave accountable data owners, clear definitions and a practical route for resolving new discrepancies. The organisation must be able to maintain information quality through system changes and personnel turnover without rebuilding a temporary reconciliation team each reporting period.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in the Netherlands usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in the Netherlands
A non-executive or supervisory director attending meetings does not require a residence permit. Executive roles for non-EU nationals require a permit, commonly under the highly skilled migrant scheme.
