The problem this seat exists to solve
Candidates should have led transformation recovery with direct financial and operating accountability. They must explain how they distinguished a delivery problem from a weak underlying idea. Evidence of closing initiatives responsibly and transferring ownership into ordinary management is particularly valuable.
Re-establish the purpose and remaining value of the programme
The executive will take responsibility for a transformation whose plans must be translated into dependable operating results. The remit is to determine what remains worth doing, secure the decisions and resources needed, and implement an achievable sequence. It requires executive authority over the agreed programme and accountability for delivery into the business.
Review the programme's original purpose, current commitments and evidence of results. Identify work that continues without a clear owner or benefit. Examine whether operating teams have capacity to adopt changes and whether project reporting reflects actual readiness rather than completion of internal tasks.
Make the delivery contract executable
Agree a focused plan with the executive sponsor and accountable business owners. Define the changes each owner must make in operations, including budgets, processes and management routines. Stop or redesign work that cannot justify its remaining cost, subject to the relevant authority.
Lead the programme team and resolve cross-workstream conflicts. Present reserved decisions early, with realistic options and consequences. Where the business case changes, make that visible rather than preserve a nominal target through repeated reclassification of benefits.
Adoption and the permanent operating result
Ensure that training, information, support and decision authority are ready when changes enter use. Observe actual operating behaviour and respond when the design proves impractical. The programme must not transfer unresolved defects into business teams without resources or clear acceptance.
Employment changes, contractual commitments and reserved expenditure require authorised decisions. The executive's role is to make those choices timely and implement them coherently.
Success means the business can demonstrate the intended improvement and sustain it without a permanent transformation office compensating for unclear ownership. Handover should include reliable benefit evidence, remaining uncertainties and a practical mechanism for adjusting the change. The enterprise should leave with fewer unfulfilled promises and a more credible relationship between ambition, capacity and execution.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in the Netherlands usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in the Netherlands
- A non-executive or supervisory director attending meetings does not require a residence permit. Executive roles for non-EU nationals require a permit, commonly under the highly skilled migrant scheme.
