The problem this seat exists to solve

The lead will take responsibility for business readiness and adoption within a technology-enabled transformation. The assignment ensures that people, processes, responsibilities and support are prepared to use the new capability. It is not a communications-only role: the lead must identify and resolve practical barriers that could prevent the intended operating change.

Assess readiness by role and process

Map the work affected and the people who will perform it. Review whether responsibilities, procedures and access are defined, and whether staff have time to learn and practise. Identify changes that require a management or policy decision before training can be meaningful.

Work with service owners to establish readiness evidence. Attendance at a training session does not prove that a team can operate the new process. Use realistic scenarios and feedback to identify gaps in understanding, design or support.

Lead the transition into use

Coordinate training, local preparation, communications and early support with the delivery plan. Ensure the sequence reflects when the system and process are stable enough to teach. Where readiness is weak, present options that identify the consequences of additional preparation, reduced scope or a changed launch sequence.

Monitor adoption after implementation and distinguish reluctance from genuine usability or capacity problems. The lead should help managers respond to the cause rather than treating every deviation as resistance. Capture workarounds that indicate the operating model needs adjustment.

Candidate profile and delegation

Candidates need direct experience leading adoption or business change in a multi-team environment. They should understand service operations, facilitation and the relationship between technology delivery and behaviour. Evidence of maintaining improvement after project support ended is especially useful.

The lead owns readiness coordination and the agreed adoption plan. Line managers retain responsibility for their teams, and formal service acceptance remains with authorised owners. The engagement should leave clear local ownership, usable support and measures of actual use and performance. Handover must include unresolved readiness gaps and the actions needed to address them. Success is sustained operation of the new way of working, not a completed communications calendar or a high training-attendance figure detached from service results.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in the Netherlands usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in the Netherlands
A non-executive or supervisory director attending meetings does not require a residence permit. Executive roles for non-EU nationals require a permit, commonly under the highly skilled migrant scheme.
