Secure software delivery organisation in Netherlands
The problem this seat exists to solve
Candidates should have senior technical delivery or assurance integration experience in controlled environments. They need practical understanding of software engineering and the ability to coordinate specialists with distinct responsibilities. Evidence of delivering a process that engineering teams actually adopted is essential.
Bring assurance into the delivery sequence
The director will lead the integration of assurance requirements into engineering planning and execution. The assignment is to replace late, fragmented evidence gathering with a process that allows delivery teams and authorised reviewers to work from a common understanding of risk and acceptance. It requires leadership across engineering, quality, security and service ownership.
Review the current path from requirement to release and identify where assurance expectations are introduced or interpreted differently. Establish which evidence is necessary for each category of change and who has authority to accept it. Avoid applying the same process to every change if doing so obscures the genuinely significant decisions.
Put evidence into the delivery workflow
Lead the redesign and implementation of delivery checkpoints, evidence ownership and escalation. Ensure teams can produce the required records as part of normal work and that reviewers receive them early enough to influence design. Where requirements conflict or are incomplete, bring the issue to the appropriate owner rather than allowing delivery teams to invent an informal interpretation.
Pilot the decisions, not merely the documents
Pilot the approach on selected work and use the results to refine it. Measure whether the process improves the quality and timeliness of decisions, not only whether documents are submitted sooner. The director should preserve independent challenge while reducing avoidable repetition and ambiguity.
Within the agreed mandate, the director will own implementation and cross-functional coordination. They will not replace authorised risk owners or weaken requirements without approval. The engagement should leave an operating assurance model, trained owners and a clear route for exceptions. Handover must identify unresolved interpretation questions and the decisions needed to close them. Success means the organisation can explain why a release is acceptable using evidence produced through disciplined delivery, rather than relying on a last-minute accumulation of signatures that obscures the underlying judgement.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in the Netherlands usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in the Netherlands
- A non-executive or supervisory director attending meetings does not require a residence permit. Executive roles for non-EU nationals require a permit, commonly under the highly skilled migrant scheme.
