Secure software delivery organisation in Netherlands
The problem this seat exists to solve
Candidates need senior engineering or technical delivery experience in controlled, sensitive or high-assurance environments. They should demonstrate software delivery accountability and the ability to work with security specialists without treating them as a separate approval queue. Experience must include decisions under real operational constraints, not only policy design. Any role-specific access or screening requirements will be assessed for the appointment; candidates should not assume that previous access permissions automatically transfer to a new environment.
Lead delivery where access and assurance shape the work
The director will take responsibility for engineering delivery in an environment where information access, system integrity and controlled change are central operating requirements. The assignment is to improve the flow of useful software without weakening the safeguards on which service owners depend. It requires practical leadership of delivery teams and informed collaboration with security and assurance specialists.
Review the active portfolio, release process and evidence required for acceptance. Identify where work stalls because requirements are unclear, assurance is introduced too late or teams lack access to representative test environments. Establish a delivery plan that treats these constraints as part of the work rather than as external delays for which nobody is accountable.
Delegated decisions and legitimate risk acceptance
Within agreed delegation, set engineering priorities, allocate delivery capacity and resolve cross-team dependencies. Lead the design of a release process that produces traceable evidence proportionate to the risk of each change. Ensure access restrictions and separation of duties are respected while avoiding unnecessary manual steps that introduce error without adding meaningful control.
Work with authorised risk owners to define escalation and acceptance routes. The director must not quietly assume authority to waive a safeguard because a deadline is approaching. Where the delivery plan and assurance requirements conflict, present options and consequences early enough for a legitimate decision.
Permanent engineering ownership
Leave a functioning engineering cadence, clear service ownership and a usable evidence trail from requirement to release. Permanent leaders should understand which controls are essential, which are being improved and which temporary arrangements still need resolution. Handover must include dependencies that could constrain future delivery.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim seat needs work authorisation. A board seat in the Netherlands usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in the Netherlands
- A non-executive or supervisory director attending meetings does not require a residence permit. Executive roles for non-EU nationals require a permit, commonly under the highly skilled migrant scheme.
