Infrastructure finance organisation in Morocco
The problem this seat exists to solve
The adviser will assess how currency exposure, revenue timing and debt-service commitments interact within infrastructure financing. The assignment is aimed at decisions where headline interest cost can obscure a more consequential mismatch between the cash an asset earns and the obligations it must meet.
The exposure map and its evidence
Review the denomination, indexation and collectability of revenues alongside debt currencies, repayment schedules, reserve requirements and material operating costs. Determine which exposures are economic, which are contractual and which arise from timing. Avoid assuming that contractual indexation automatically produces timely cash protection.
Candidates require substantial infrastructure financing or treasury experience with cross-border currency and repayment risk. Evidence of designing or reviewing debt structures under uncertain cash flows is essential. Applicants should be able to challenge simplistic stress tests and identify correlated pressures rather than changing one assumption at a time in isolation.
Choices under combined stress
Construct scenarios that combine exchange movements with delayed collections, higher operating costs and reduced refinancing access. Compare funding and risk-management alternatives in terms of affordability, flexibility, counterparty exposure and implementation requirements. Any recommendation involving hedging must address liquidity demands and governance as well as the intended protection.
Explain what remains unprotected
The adviser should explain residual risk in plain language. Decision-makers need to understand what remains exposed, under which circumstances losses or cash calls could arise and who would monitor those conditions. Coordinate with treasury, finance and appointed specialists to reconcile the analysis with available instruments and contractual constraints.
The ability to write an intelligible board recommendation matters as much as technical fluency. Candidates must disclose relationships with lenders or product providers and avoid recommendations driven by placement incentives.
Advice with a defined transaction boundary
Deliver an exposure map, a scenario analysis and an options paper with implementation and monitoring requirements. Identify data limitations, distinguish indicative pricing from executable terms and specify where specialist confirmation is needed. The adviser has no authority to transact, select counterparties or alter borrowing arrangements. The mandate succeeds when the financing decision explicitly recognises the cash consequences of currency and timing risk and assigns responsibility for monitoring the exposure that remains.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement
No office of director, and no appointment formalities.
An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Morocco. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.
- On this brief
- Independence
- Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
