A services business needs a country leader to improve execution across customers, delivery teams and local administration. The general manager will take ownership of the country operating plan and strengthen the connection between commercial commitments, service quality and financial performance.
Own country performance
The role carries executive delivery responsibility within an agreed budget and delegation. It reports to the CEO, or to the board where the appointment is for CEO. Major decisions follow the organisation’s reserved matters.
The commercial and delivery agenda
- Translate the regional strategy into a country operating plan with clear revenue, cost and delivery assumptions.
- Build account-level visibility of customer retention, service commitments and collection risks.
- Manage local team performance and address capability gaps affecting service delivery.
Work within the regional organisation
You will coordinate with group finance, HR and operational support functions on local resource needs. You will provide accurate reporting to regional leadership and escalate decisions beyond the delegated country authority.
A credible first nine months
**First month.** Validate the country operating baseline and identify the largest customer and delivery risks.
**By month three.** Implement account and team performance routines with regional sponsor agreement.
**By month nine.** Demonstrate progress in retained revenue, collection performance or service quality against the agreed baseline.
Relevant general management experience
The role requires verified country or business-unit leadership in the relevant services sector; evidence of managing customers, teams, budgets and delivery outcomes.
Additional useful experience includes experience operating within a regional group and managing commercial execution in Kenya.
Appointment period
An initial six to nine months is envisaged, normally four to five days a week, including diagnosis and an orderly handover. Start date, remuneration, travel and on-site attendance will be agreed for the appointment.
