The problem this seat exists to solve
An infrastructure platform needs stronger scrutiny of investment models and funding exposure as it grows into new markets. The director will challenge capital allocation and financing assumptions while helping the board understand how project risks affect portfolio resilience.
Capital and debt decisions
1. Review investment models for demand, construction, operating cost and funding assumptions.
2. Challenge debt structures, refinancing exposure and the resilience of distributions under downside cases.
3. Assess the consistency of investment committee recommendations with board strategy and risk tolerance.
Performance and concentration
You will scrutinise asset performance reporting and management explanations for deviations from the original case. You will ensure the board evaluates concentration across geography, counterparties, currencies and project stages.
Contribution expected by review point
**First quarter.** Establish a portfolio view of financing exposure and critical model assumptions.
**Within six months.** Complete a deep review of one material investment and its downside protection.
**Within twelve months.** Assess capital allocation quality and management action on underperforming assets.
Board experience and working arrangement
The role requires infrastructure finance or investment leadership, strong modelling judgement and the ability to contribute to collective board decisions.
Additional useful experience includes prior board service and experience with development finance institutions or infrastructure investment in African markets.
This is a nonexecutive appointment. The director contributes through the chair to collective board decisions and oversight; management retains responsibility for execution.
An initial three-year appointment is envisaged, with approximately eighteen to twenty-four days annually for meetings, preparation and committee work. Start date, remuneration, travel and on-site attendance will be agreed for the appointment.
