Luxury hospitality organisation in Italy
The problem this seat exists to solve
The advisor will evaluate the commercial and operating feasibility of a proposed luxury hospitality concept. The engagement must connect the intended guest experience with demand, service capacity and sustainable economics. Its purpose is to help leadership decide what should be developed, tested or reconsidered before substantial commitments are made.
Can the operating promise support the investment?
Candidates should demonstrate senior hospitality operating experience and a record of evaluating or developing commercially viable concepts. They must explain a project where an attractive design ambition was changed because the operating economics or service capacity did not support it. Strong candidates combine guest understanding with practical financial judgement.
Follow the promise into the operation
Examine the target guest, reasons for choosing the property and the evidence behind rate and occupancy assumptions. Assess how room mix, food and beverage, amenities and service design reinforce the proposition. Identify features that add complexity without a clear contribution to guest preference or commercial performance.
Translate the concept into operating requirements: staffing, specialist capability, back-of-house capacity, procurement and management attention. Test whether the proposed service can be delivered consistently at different occupancy levels. A premium price assumption must be supported by an experience that the operating organisation can afford and execute.
Advice to put before the decision-makers
Present alternative operating scenarios and the trade-offs among capital, service intensity and commercial positioning. Identify assumptions requiring market testing or specialist technical review. Recommendations should distinguish essential elements of the proposition from optional enhancements that can be phased.
The advisor will provide independent analysis and facilitate choices. They will not act as general manager, approve development expenditure or make commitments to operators or suppliers. Property, legal, technical and any clinical requirements must be assessed by appropriately qualified advisers where relevant.
Decision evidence to retain
The final output should state what is supported by evidence, what remains uncertain and what would change the recommendation. Success means leadership can make an informed investment decision and understand the capabilities needed to deliver it. The advisor should leave a coherent operating proposition rather than a collection of desirable features whose costs and interactions have not been reconciled.

Before you apply — an advisory engagement
No office of director, and no appointment formalities.
An advisory engagement creates no directorship in Italy. There is no registry filing, no regulator pre-approval, no residency arithmetic and no statutory director liability — which is why it is so often the right first step into a market you do not yet know.
- On this brief
- Independence
- Where the engagement specifies independence from any search that follows, that is a requirement of the engagement rather than a courtesy — an adviser to a board is not a candidate for it.
