The problem this seat exists to solve
A European business and its Indian operation use inconsistent processes, reporting and decision rights. The programme director will build a coherent operating model while retaining the local flexibility needed to serve customers and manage delivery effectively.
Understand the current friction
You will map the current operating processes, intercompany dependencies and decisions causing delays or duplication. First month: establish the operating baseline and agree the integration problems that matter most.
Agree and test a better model
1. Agree responsibilities across headquarters and local leadership for customers, delivery, staffing and investment.
2. Build an integration plan covering reporting, management routines and priority operational processes.
3. Resolve cross-functional dependencies through a joint sponsor forum and transparent issue tracking.
Build local ownership
You will develop local ownership of the new routines, including training and a realistic transition timetable. By month three: pilot the revised model in an agreed function or business unit.
By completion: obtain acceptance from both leadership teams and show improvement in agreed delivery, reporting or decision-cycle measures.
Experience across teams and markets
The role requires senior operating or transformation leadership, cross-border programme execution and demonstrated ability to work effectively with Indian and European teams.
Additional useful experience includes previous post-acquisition integration, shared services or international operating model implementation; regional experience must be verified.
Sponsor relationship and duration
The executive sponsor sets the mandate and approves material changes to scope or funding. The programme director leads the agreed workstreams and delivery forum; the designated business owner accepts the completed work.
The expected engagement is six to twelve months, normally four to five days a week, linked to delivery and acceptance milestones. Start date, remuneration, travel and on-site attendance will be agreed for the appointment.

Before you apply — this is an executive role
An interim mandate needs work authorisation. A board seat in India usually does not.
This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.
- Position in India
- A non-executive director attending board meetings travels on a business visa. An executive or whole-time role requires an employment visa.
