The problem this seat exists to solve

An established SME needs temporary executive leadership to restore operating discipline during a transition. The CEO will establish a reliable financial and operational baseline, give the management team clear priorities and prepare the business for its next stage of leadership. Sector alignment will be assessed against the applicant’s operating track record.

Take charge of the operating reset

The role carries executive delivery responsibility within an agreed budget and delegation. It reports to the CEO, or to the board where the appointment is for CEO. Major decisions follow the organisation’s reserved matters.

Immediate priorities

1. Establish reliable visibility of revenue, cash commitments, customer obligations and immediate operational risks.

2. Agree a practical stabilisation plan with owners and clarify the decisions delegated to the CEO.

Build basic management discipline

You will introduce regular management reviews and assign responsibility for unresolved operating problems. You will assess critical team gaps and protect essential customer and supplier relationships.

Leave an organisation ready for its next leader

You will prepare the organisation for a permanent leadership handover with documented priorities and management information. By month six: evidence improvement in agreed operating measures and complete a structured leadership handover.

Early evidence of progress

  • First month: produce an owner-approved operating baseline and immediate stabilisation priorities.
  • By day 90: establish management reporting, clear accountabilities and a realistic short-term business plan.

Required executive evidence

The role requires verified CEO or equivalent general management accountability in a comparable SME, with evidence of P and L or budget responsibility and references supporting delivery results.

Additional useful experience includes previous interim leadership or experience stabilising a business during founder, ownership or management transition.

An initial six to nine months is envisaged, normally four to five days a week, including diagnosis and an orderly handover. Start date, remuneration, travel and on-site attendance will be agreed for the appointment.

Before you apply — this is an executive role

An interim mandate needs work authorisation. A board seat in Ghana usually does not.

This is the single most common way a cross-border interim engagement falls apart after it has been agreed. The visa-free position that applies to a non-executive director attending board meetings does not extend to an executive or operating role.

Position in Ghana
A non-resident director attending board meetings travels on a business visa. Executive and resident roles require a work permit and residence permit.
